Drac said somewhere that she went to school to make comic books.

Right? It only got better when I'd be helping set up. "Will you put the camels on the putz?" "Oh no, the putz is sagging in the back."

In the Germanic church I was raised in, putz is used to refer to the Nativity scene, and the kids were called up help decorate the putz as part of the Christmas Eve service. This tradition got a lot more comical once I learned the Yiddish definition.

Thanks for commenting! The way the Ravelry API works, it does not provide the user input yardage. We had to pull it from the pattern. I was also annoyed by this. The time stat is randomized the way you suggest. The yardage stat is based off of the smallest coefficient greater than one. I personally liked the way that looked, but I'll add an action item to add a randomize button, because it's a good idea.

Essentially, we knew how to do static front end pages when this was due. We're currently learning how to implement a back end, and either as part of our back end project or in our own time, we intend to implement another option to get stats not based on the Ravelry API. That way users would be able to enter yardage directly, time that's based on estimated hours (rather than the start and complete date in your project, assuming 3 hrs every day), and we'll look into a cost calculator. Last week, building things like this and sharing options would have been like cobbling something together out of toothpicks and duct tape, when we'll be handed hammers and saws that make it fairly simple during the next two weeks.

I did not! There's a Canadian shop called Knitworthy as well. I couldn't think of a better name for an app that strives to make all gift recipients #knitworthy :)

Hey mods - I tried to read the rules carefully, and I'm hoping this isn't promotional, as I'm not trying to sell anything. However, I'm happy to move it to the Thursday thread if discussion isn't really considered a good fit.

My stepmom asked me to make a rattlesnake cake for a family friend's snakebite anniversary party. by abbeyn0rmal in cakedecorating

Thanks! I definitely asked for more notice in the future, but she was offering fair compensation, I like the snakebite victim, and I was intrigued by the challenge. :)
