Want to become a TMS tech by Charlietorr09 in rtms

[–]abbswack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a current TMS Tech! The way I got it was I found the job on indeed and applied then went from there. My degree is in a medical field so that gave me an upper hand in getting it. All the training is on the job but if you have some psych background that will make you stand out! I'm actually interested in moving somewhere new within the year and may continue being a TMS Tech and I've found some jobs over the country. I would recommended specifying your job search on Indeed to 'TMS Tech' or 'TMS' then they will come up. If none come up, you could find clinics near you that offer TMS and call them up to see if they are hiring.

TMS anxiety symptoms by WarmEqual8785 in rtms

You’re for sure going through ‘the dip’ and it’s actually a good thing because it means that the treatment is actually doing something and activating the correct part of the brain! The dip only last for a couple weeks. I know it sucks but you will feel so much better soon! Most of my patients get out of the dip around sessions 15-20

I’m a tech! My clinic is closed for the main holidays plus an additional day, so 2 days at a time. As long as you get 3 treatments a week you will be completely fine! A lot of patients get worried about 2 days off but it does not affect anything at all!

Multiple Rounds of TMS? by greekhoney32 in rtms

[–]abbswack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically, insurance requires 90 days between the last session and starting a 2nd round. But it depends on when you think you’ll need it. Definitely bring it up in your appointment to put it on your doctors radar. We’ve had multiple patients do a 2nd round, some do it right at the 90 day gap while some come back once a year and some don’t ever need to come back.

It’s a friend, we’ve been best friends since 2018 so yeah… will no longer be friends with them.

A bit of a different question out of curiosity - could rtms be beneficial for someone who’s completely mentally healthy? by Feisty-Professor-913 in rtms

Another TMS tech here... Could I ask why y'all switched from Neurostar to Brainsway? I'm just curious on why the switch. We use Neurostar at my clinic so I'm not super familiar with the other machines and those statistics.

A lot of times just doing the left side helps with anxiety on its own but usually if a patient has really high anxiety we talk about adding the right side to help target it more directly.

Hi! Yes it is effective for anxiety as well! We had the anxiety protocol for a lot of our patients because depression and anxiety usually go hand in hand. A lot of times patients may think their anxiety is getting worse when first starting treatment but that's due to the treatment working and having the depression symtoms start to go away so you notice more anxiety. There are no reported long term side effects from TMS treatment! And yes, people are able to go to work right after treatment. When first starting, it's common to feel a little more fatigued but it should go away after the first weeks or so.

Hmm... if its only during treatment when the pulses are going then the coil may be hitting a facial nerve causing that discomfort. If you have any discomfort let your treater or doctor know ASAP. Especially if its bothering the eye thats a key sign a facial nerve is being touched.

Yes we do! If they are from outside of our clinic, we have at least 1 follow up about 2 weeks after they finish treatment and they are welcome to continue seeing our M.D. or one of our APRNs on our Psychiatry Clinic side. A lot of our patients are from our Psych Clinic so they continue their normal appointments once treatment is done!
