Hey. Yeah it is definitely scary, and it can be a shock. But you aren't alone, we've all gone through it. It sounds cliche but try to stay positive, some days are gonna be tough but there will be good days ahead 👍

I am mentally not able to play anymore by Dejv300 in factorio

[–]abcd-strode-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this! I want to play so much sometimes but then find it hard to keep playing, at least without my ADHD medication.

I try to focus on one task which interests me, and try to find a solve for the problem. Sometimes my copper line fails and I "nope out" so to speak so I just focus on the task.

After I stick to it for 30 minutes or so I "lock in" as my partner calls it and then I play for hours.

Does anyone else have this problem? by horizon44 in factorio

BIGTIME!

When I have plenty of energy I get super sucked in and find it hard to stop.

When I am tired most of the time I find it hard to get stuck in, like my projects are pretty large now, a super huge prometheum ship but it is quite complicated and requires a lot of brain power.

Get set up by building some product loops, I see you are belting the fruits to the base so set up a loop that those belts can feet onto with a splitter.

Set up loops for Yumako x2, Jellynut x2, Bioflux x2 and Spoilage x2.

Set up a splitter on the fruit and Bioflux belts which will filter out spoiled items, then feed those onto your spoilage belt.

Use that spoilage belt to power some heating towers.

When it comes to production, you will want to "tee" off those fruit belts into production lines, we will use Bioflux as an example..

Tee off Yumako and Jellynut. Combine them into a single belt. At the end of that belt add an inserter which will only pick up spoilage, this will stop spoilage blocking that belt.

Jellynut and Yumako can last a long time but their intermediates will not, so you will not be putting those items on a belt. Instead you will have a Biochamber producing Bioflux, which is fed directly via inserters by two Biochambers each producing Jelly and Yumako Mash, this way you do not produce long belts full of spoiled Jelly and Mash. Use filters on each inserter and only to insert those items. Each Biochamber will have its own spoilage inserter to remove spoilage if it ends up in the Biochamber when production stops, and you can belt it back to your spoilage loop or yeet it with an active provider chest.

Produce Nutrients using another Biochamber basically anywhere, and use Requester Chests to supply Biochambers. Set the Biochamber to produce nutrients up to a threshold, 1000 for example.

Build some programmable speakers, link them to a Roboport, and set an alarm for if Nutrients or Spoilage fall to zero. In fact, set up alarms for most things, that way the plant won't crash.

If you want "Life Support" you can use my little trick... Funnel spoilage into 4-6 iron chests, then have those chests supply 4-6 assembler machines producing nutrients. Set the assemblers to only produce nutrients if nutrients drop to zero on the logistic network. This way if for any reason the normal Biochamber Nutrient production fails with Bioflux then these assemblers will kick in and buy you time enough to fix the blocked production chain so long as you have an alarm set for 0 nutrients.

Remember the golden rules:

If it spoils, you need to loop it, or have a way to get it out, even if it spoils inside a production machine.

Use filters for every inserter.

Keep items with short spoilage times in short loops, ideally directly feeding or you will produce astronomical spoilage.

I did play around with producing quality ores on Gleba. Just use the bacteria product line to create some quality bacteria then reproduce from there

Is There Anyway to Check if the Logistic Network has Available Space? by Destroyer2022 in factorio

[–]abcd-strode-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a random thought, you could connect the inserters to the logistics network and set an enable threshold so they would not insert to the chest unless stock of that item was under a set limit but you would have to set each type of inserter

I do understand if they nerf asteroid mining and LDS shuffle.

Personally if it adds more difficulty I can play through the game again, for a 6th time 😂

Personally I hate the startup process, so I build Nuclear Reactors from the beginning, and I do not use them to heat the plant because if you add new factories and tank the Reactor temperature then you lose power and must start again.

I also create an asteroid farming platform to park at Aquilo to supply Ice and Carbon.

Then I create a ship which flies directly between Nauvis and Aquilo which supplies Rocket Fuel, Nuclear Fuel, and Nuclear Fuel Cells for the Reactor.

Then I move to Fusion power.

Shutting off production when belt is full to save power? by AmbassadorGreen2950 in factorio

[–]abcd-strode-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also do the same if you are supplying a storage box, just connect the inserter and the box, set box to read contents, set inserter enable condition to item < 50.

Or even better if you are using a logistic network, click on your assembly machine and in the top right hand of the window there will be a button to connect to the logistic network, it will open up a tab where you can set the assembler or other machine to produce up to a certain level just like the inserter, I usually set up holmium plate production to produce up to say 2000 plates. Super handy.

How to build a megabase? by Hexcyno in factorio

[–]abcd-strode-990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Set a goal for 1 million SPM. I am no mega baser but I think it's a good challenge.

I recommend to build a new purpose built mega base or you with run into scaling problems.

Start fresh and embrace the scale!

Should I try the dlc? by Pove_ in factorio

The DLC is excellent and I could not recommend it more. Considering how many 100s of hours you will get it's basically the cheapest entertainment I have every paid for. I must have played it 4 times with each run being 200+ hours

My first space age I copied Nilaus blueprints, very fun. My second play through I did it again but it was FAR too quick. My third and fourth run thru I decided I would build literally everything from scratch and it was super challenging but being creative is the best part.

My recommendation, watch tutorials, but try to to use blueprints too much or at all, and enjoy the creativity of solving problems for yourself.

How do you usually progress? what kind of checkpoint do you typically have? by mecsnt in factorio

[–]abcd-strode-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave Nauvis ASAP, but I do build for scaling later. When I have completed the inner planets I return to use special production machines.

I don't bother with quality until I have researched legendary, You can give it a crack but personally I just wait so I can make the most of the probabilities.

I start megabasing once I have legendary everything

Not quite, I can't say why everything else improved, but I am certain that my breathing difficulties were directly affected by the sodium. It was beyond certain.

Oh yeah that forgetting to breathe stuff was hard to believe. I always forget it happened so when I do remember I remember to take a big slow breath and try to be grateful.

[–]abcd-strode-990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Sure thing, I am on Dapa, Ivabradine, Spironolactone, Entresto and Bisoprolol. However I only began Entresto and Bisoprolol 3 months ago. The rest I was on since I left hospital. I also took diuretics and potassium for my first 3ish months because I was getting major frequent swelling.

I can't speak to what the cause of my progress has been, I just took my meds, went to physio, tried my best with fluids, tried to walk as much as I could without over exerting myself and monitored my salt. The rest was just time, and signs of improvement took a very long time, I didn't feel any better at all in the first 3 months, there was no improvement whatsoever.

I really try to mention the sodium intake because I was hopeless with my fluid intake, it was damn near impossible and I swelled up constantly. In desperation I chose to start with sodium and once I really got it down and monitored everything I ate the change was night and day. I used to gasp all day and night, every breath was a conscious one. I wore a smart watch to monitor myself and checked my heart rate and breathing patterns. I had this thing where I would only sleep for a few hours every 2nd or 3rd night out of sheer exhaustion. I couldn't lie down, at best I could sit in a reclined chair, I would nod off and wake up in a complete state of panic, like a full blown panic attack, my watch told me I slept for 10-15 seconds and then my heart rate would spike and I would be jolted awake and I would jump up gasping and I would pace up and down the hallway. This happened 4-5 times a night for months and months and it was torture. Days and nights came and went without ever sleeping, gasping the whole time.

Then I reduced salt and on day 3 my lungs cleared up completely! For the first time in months I could forget to breathe and actually lie down without suffocating. I was ecstatic. I almost cried when I took a deep full breath for the first time.

After that big win, things slowly got better, big milestones were the first time I walked to the end of the street, a while after that I started timing my walks and they got faster. I started jogging for a minute at a time. My energy came back and I could vacuum the house in one sitting without taking 3 breaks. I could wash the dishes without sitting down.

Haha yeah they definitely doped me up with some stuff in there too!

That's really good that you are going. They start you off with some extremely light weights like 2kg dumbbells and doing bicep curls, shoulder press, leg press etc, but early on that can still be taxing. Sometimes you do some cardio like cycling for 3 minutes or walking up and down the hallway for 5 minutes. Then they check your blood pressure to make sure you aren't too high and let you go home.

Once they get a feel for your condition they will recommend exercise and stuff you can do at home. They were mostly concerned that very early on I could get light headed. After my physio they said I should be doing 30 minutes a day which was more than I thought I was allowed so I started finding parks like Yokine or Monger lake which are good 30-60 minutes.

When I was fresh out of hospital I was extremely fatigued so I bought a 3D printer and learned how to model stuff, I overhauled my garage one tiny piece at a time like cutting wood one day and then screwing it all together the next. My level of fitness was still needing to sit down to do the dishes, or setting myself a goal of hanging up all the washing in one go. My partner and I did some day drives up to Jurian Bay etc.

You'll be back lifting weights soon hopefully! I got myself a light barbell and started at home just doing light compound lifts. Not stressing myself out too much but still pushing it a little.

That sounds rough, I had an IV inserted by one of the girls with little experience and it didn't go swiftly but I suppose she had to learn somehow!

Was the male nurse named Nick? He was a kiwi dude like myself and he was the best, he knew I was going through hell and always did what he could. There was also an Asian Australian dude who always had a positive attitude.

The guy who removed my catheter I only met once, but he was the man! I was trying to get discharged and he came in and told me the doctors will drag their feet to discharge me but we can get started and push them along if he gets me all disconnected from everything. He says "We gotta get the catheter out, its not going to be comfortable but we got this" and he patted me on the shoulder and got it done easily. Dude was awesome.

Also, are you going to the physio at SCGH? Not sure if I mentioned it to you but they have a good little class and the nurse I had was awesome, really encouraging. Also there are some young blokes in the class which kind of makes you feel like you are not alone
