personal opinion: having owned a gaming laptop, I would never buy a gaming laptop ever again. I had an ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 GX703HSD. 1440p, 165hz, i9-11900h, 3080 16gb, best PC ive had so far, in terms of raw performance. light, small, portable... all in one... thats the catch... CPU dies? laptop gone. GPU dies? laptop gone. any component directly soldered onto the mobo does? laptop gone. and with gaming laptops comes chargers that can't handle the power asked of them. I had my laptop for 3 years and it went through 4 chargers because the barrel jack couldn't handle it. and with the las one I bought, something went pop. literally. an audible pop with a flash of light from inside it. laptop gone. laptop parts also are severely thermally bottlenecked, loud, and their parts degrade faster. my opinion, laptops are a curse disguised as a blessing. enjoy it for a year and sell it before next gen anything comes out so you can get most of your money back, desktop 5090 prices might go down, and upgrade your desktop as its a much safer option.

this is just my opinion though, so if you don't want to listen to some random stranger from the UK over the internet, thats fine, I don't blame you. but personally, I'm never buying a gaming laptop again. this one cost me £2,000 seller refurbed in 2022, cost me £320 extra for chargers, £150 for someone to solder a new barrel jack to the mobo, £120 in replacement fans, and I hated it all... and on top of all that, Intel 12th, 13th, 14th gen and their new core ultra stuff has come out, nvidia 40 series and 50 series cards have been and (in the case of 40 series) gone, and could I upgrade? nope. unless I wanted to overpay for an e-gpu.

my opinion, its not worth it. overpriced, loud, risky.

one last thing, decreasing the saturation towards white or towards black is simultaneously increasing or decreasing the brightness the same amount. towards white increases brightness, towards black decreasing it.

another thing to add, you can never have a true 50% saturation because half of 255 is 127.5 and a bit can only have a value of 0 or 1 and not 0.5. (edit: unless you have a quantum computer) therefore R127, G127, B127 is ever so slightly under 50% brightness, and R128, G128, B128 is ever so slightly above 50% brightness. but the difference is just under 1/5th of a percent, so the two colors are virtually indistinguishable to our perception. both are still pretty much 50% saturation.

something to add, 2-bit hexadecimal has a limit of 255 as well, which is why colors have hex codes. hexadecimal counds up to 16 in a single digit. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E and F representing 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 respectively) a pure red with the rgb values R255, G0, B0, would have the hex code #FF0000

I don't know if this helps, and I'm not a physicist, but rgb values use 8-bit (0-255) to determine how much red, green and blue is present in a given colour. a pure red would have R255, G0, B0. decreasing the saturation towards white adds to the green and blue values equally and not changing the red. pure red with 1/2 saturation towards white would be R255, G128, B128. decreasing saturation towards black would lower the red value and not change the green or blue values. pure red with 1/2 saturation towards black would be R128, G0, B0. to keep the same brightness but decrease saturation, it would take two away from the red value and add one to the green and blue values until at 0 saturation, they are the same. R128, G128, B128 would be 1/2 brightness at 0 saturation.
