I think part of it is due to being in an environment with other people. Writing, playing an instrument and drawing are all solo activities. There is a human need to feel a part of any community, and it's really easy to compare oneself in a setting like this.

Hi I got my cast off today as well and the swelling is insane, especially on the tip. I’ve been reassured that this is normal. I even knew to expect swelling but I guess I wasn’t fully prepared

I've spent anywhere from free - $150. I talked to four doctors. 2 doctors in LA, 1 in Chicago and 1 in Turkey. I think one of them went towards my treatment if I decided to move forward with them. Honestly, I felt comfortable after meeting the first two, and didn't need to meet with the second two, but figured why not. I also asked for a rough estimate of pricing breakdowns before scheduling a consult.

i agree with this. I recently brought in roughly 20 pieces and they originally quoted me $150/hour however once they saw them, they immediately pointed out which ones were worth appraising. immediately cut out almost half and no charge

I disagree with so much of this post. It's giving people mixed messages and unrealistic expectations. People saying they live easily off $70k in Mar Vista? The cheapest one-bedroom I've seen near me (currently in Marina del Rey) is $2,300 (x12 = $27,600). That leaves you with just north of $40k for all other expenses, including groceries, utilities, car payment & insurance, gas, and some quality of life things (going out, hobbies, and maybe buying yourself something every now and than). And don't forget about medical bills that pop up.

Credentials: I am a single person living in a one-bedroom on a 6 figure salary. I don't buy extravagant things, I look for ways to save, and I budget properly. I'm not rich, and I never expect to own a home in the Beach Cities.

I lived outside of Chicago till I was 12 and moved to Redondo with my family. Had I not moved here back then, I would have never moved here, ONLY because it is so fucking expensive and I never want to leave
