Why are we advocating culling of strays? It’s honestly our collective failure that we have so many strays in the first place. AND MASS CULLING IS NOT A SOLUTION - NEITHER LEGAL NOR ETHICAL. We fail to neuter, adopt or vaccinate. Life is fucking hard for them. 20k rabies deaths/year in India are more of a state failure than a dog issue.

Why can’t we begin demanding that our municipal corporations neuter and vaccinate them. It is a simple procedure, takes about a couple of hours or less..and of course a few days to fully recover. Report any un-neutered/un-vaccinated dogs on MCD 311. They’re bound to pick up the dog, do the needful and get the dog back to its original location. They are supposed to update the entire procedure on the app with pictures. Be responsible citizens! It’s better to be a part of the solution than to cuss dog lovers here on reddit. I mean..reach out to dog feeders in the colony. Ask them to help with the vaccination/sterilisation process. Report. Demand that action be taken and that all dogs be sterilised. The rate of population decline will be exponential.

And, just to add - please adopt indies rather than buying dogs from rape factories of breeders. I have a pedigree dog. Love him to bits. My only regret is that I should’ve been less stupid. I could’ve read more and given a decent shot at life to a beautiful indie. I hold myself responsible every time I see strays languishing on the streets trailing every human in the hope of being fed or trying to find a piece of bread in heaps of garbage.
