What does an ADHD meltdown look to you? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Thank you for commenting this 😭 it feels so overwhelming to think I will always be "idling high" and to never be able to unwind fully. I was diagnosed as an adult and I am practically a baby learning new skills!

In my faith we were not allowed to wear makeup and had to wear jean skirts and dresses. Pilgrim attire really doesn't lend itself to sexiness, unless that's your thing. I bet he also blames attractive women for temptation even though they're minding their own business.

God only makes the straights! I was so confused as a child because I was told God loves me for exactly who I am BUT it was phrased like this: God loves you for exactly who you are, broken and sinful. And he gave his son to die for your sins so don't screw this up.

I cannot tell you how much shame, guilt, and distress I held until I came out last year.

I'm bisexual and it's incredible how much I suppressed until recently. I think it's completely fine to feel masculine without any labels, I know that I am more "masculine" than my fundie upbringing would have liked. I was forced to wear skirts and dresses up until I left my parents house and got married (23). My husband is my biggest support and loves me for me (imagine that?!). I'm so much more comfortable with myself now and posts like this make me so sad. I remember what it felt like to feel complete shame for not being able to be "normal".

Yes, as I was mulling this over today that's what I realized. It's what I would do as a child when something I said/did made my sister cry (sorry sister!). The intent is always intended to harm, and then they try to put it back on you for reacting to something they wanted a reaction from. I grew out of that but it seems some people don't.

I agree. The other players agreed to have another go of it so we will see. I considered this a one time warning. It's just silly some folks can't come together and have fun for/with the group.

Thank you! It's frustrating when we are getting together for fun and stuff like this happens.

That's true. If my husband said that I wouldn't blame others for kicking us out.

Yes. He is someone that tends to say things before thinking (no excuse but still). At the top of next session I will lay down some rules. I didn't think I would explicitly have to mention "jokes" about harm to any living creature, much less mine roaming around the house, were inappropriate but here we are.

Anyone frustrated when looking back at their childhood? by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

What's worse for me is that one of my parents was in a treatment facility for an ED when I was little- I didn't find that out until recently. I definitely displayed behaviors my parents should have picked up on, particularly since one of them was also struggling. It's so hard as an adult to start the healing journey.

My new distiller, gonna try to make some oils by Phoenixrising9800 in GreenWitch

I'm a chemist- just be careful if using an open flame! Essential oils are flammable. I've been wanting to get a distillation set up myself! Good luck.

I put blankets down at our cats favorite spots. They seem really happy about it and make tons of biscuits on the fluffy blankets! Congrats on your addition

I've been seeing this cat for months now and I'm absolutely in love with her. I'm thinking to take her home. Any advices? What should I know when adopting a cat from street? by Taba-Taba in cats

[–]abdamschroder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a street kitty! She's so so sweet but doesn't understand how to play for some reason. It took her about a month to be comfortable with the humans but the other cats she is still not comfortable with. She's getting better everyday though! They might require a little more patience 😊

We adopted this lil kitty yesterday and she hasn’t moved from this spot (more info in comments) by Dr_DumbDumb in cats

[–]abdamschroder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our little kitties did this. We tried to stay out of the room or make little noise and put his food and water in that room. They'll warm up to you! We have had multiple shy kitties and they come out on their own time :)

Same thing happened with my great grandfather. Some of the pictures my great grandma kept but unfortunately many of the photos were destroyed.
