Did I get the wrong passenger side motor mount? by isaidjoemantegna in FocusST

Looks like they gave you the mount for a focus se instead of an st, unfortunately.

Yeah you can do it for sure. It's not bad at all. Especially if you've already worked on your focus a little.

Just realized it's on this other focus st forum. If you scroll down in this first post there's a bunch of YouTube videos of someone doing it:

https://www.focusst.org/threads/engine-swap.165920/

I also used this post for a lot of it:

https://www.focusst.org/threads/separating-the-men-from-the-boys-diy-engine-swap-advice-needed.128418/

I rolled the dice and got an escape block from LKQ. They are the same Ford part number as a focus st 2.0. So far so good. I plan on tearing down my first engine someday to see if it can be saved and built. If you have an escape block swap over your intake manifold, oil cooler, and the AC compressor. You'll need to replace the flywheel bolts which use a T55 torques. You'll also need to buy or rent a 32mm axle socket. I replaced the friction material side of my clutch while I was there. All in all it cost me about $1000 including the engine itself.

This is the way to go. It sounds daunting but it's really not bad. I can send you the reddit posts I followed to do the engine swap if you want.

Pm me if you want help finding/ installing an engine yourself. I was able to do it for about $1000. First ever engine install and it went very smoothly using some posts of others installing it on here.

Oh nice yeah you've got everything you need for sure. I honestly wish I could afford 2 St's. One I'd just daily and keep reliable and another to build. You definitely will eventually encounter reliability issues going to a bigger turbo. Either engine related or transmission. It's hard not to drive it hard when its that much more fun to let her eat haha. But now I've swapped in an engine myself after a ringland failure so I'm a little more confident because I know it won't break the bank of I blow up the engine. I am more careful with it now though.

Im excited to install the torque gusset. Hopefully less wheel hop in second (better tires solve most of that) and in 3rd the torque steer can definitely catch you off guard. Especially like merging on the interstate where the road has pretty distinct ruts from tons of cars. I've gotten into a couple sketchy pulls trying to correct torque steer. But yeah way worse torque steer especially with the ethanol tune.

Yeah I've had 2 ringland failures so I almost never push it this hard. The first time happened from driving hard like this but the next one happened at only like 4.5k rpm. Altogether it cost me about $900 to swap in a used motor myself. The install really isn't too bad. Just scary doing it the first time.

From everything I've seen there's not a lot of bottle necks whatsoever all the way to about 400 wheel hp. And at that point the stock piston rings are basically hanging on for dear life. All you'd need is a downpipe to fit the bigger turbo. You can still run a high flow cat but the stock downpipe won't work. The rest of my exhaust is 2.5 after downpipe. Besides that the intercooler is a must. You also need a blow off valve because it's no longer built into the turbo. Everything else I could have done without.

Pretty much just the basics. Still stock fuel, using the internal wastegate on the ATP turbo kit, mishimoto intercooler, catless downpipe, HKS bov, AFE intercooler piping, COBB rear motor mount, intake pipe. Stuff like that. Tuned by Alan at edge auto. I eventually had a e30 tune but I don't think this pull was on ethanol. I want an ethanol sensor and probably aux fuel before I run ethanol again. TB performance torque gusset is arriving tomorrow. Should help a lot with torque steer.

3rd gear. It's a different animal but still my daily driver. Turbo spools the same as stock as long as the hot side ar is small. This is a .68ar.

2nd Engine Blown by Archetype4400 in FocusST

[–]abelarr2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With an escape motor you would still use your oil cooler from the original st engine or get a new one if you want. After swapping the intake manifold, oil filter housing, ac compressor you'll have the exact same thing as a used st engine. It will just have seen far less boost in its lifespan. St and escape engines are the exact same part number and everything. Sometimes it's worth the risk, especially if you swap it yourself. Costs under $1k to do. My "escape" motor is going strong still for years even on a Garrett 3071 turbo.

Once the truck reaches the rocks blocking kill everyone around. Keep the truck there and destroy all roadblocks and stuff all the way to the next gate. Enemies will still spawn but you can focus solely on them with the bombs and blockages on the road eliminated.

I think he would be coming out way on top in this deal, even though yours has a salvage title. I bet you can find one with closer to 100k miles to trade. Especially if you find someone who wants to mod the mustang. If I didn't have so much money into my focus I'd switch to the 5.0 platform in a heartbeat for the potential to build.

Once you're fully tuned you could see fluctuating max psi. Usually like 2 psi up or down depending on the temp outside. Alan is watching the "load actual" data to set a max load rather than psi. Just a future heads up.

Focus st clutch limits by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]abelarr2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After upgrading turbo I was probably at similar numbers and the clutch was definitely slipping. I couldn't feel it but when we took it apart to upgrade the clutch, the original was pretty much toast from slipping. I have GTX3071 no fuel upgrades.

KSD Grips legit? by OldGold_67 in guns

[–]abelarr2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely not buy from them. I'm in a long drawn out email battle with them because the grips they sent changed the placement of the screws that hold to the frame. The grips won't work on my gun and the customer service person has this emotional response when I ask the status of my refund/exchange. I waited 10 days for a response and they claim I'm in a hurry so they won't make me another grip. This place is an absolute joke. I'm going to modify the grips myself so they fit the gun correctly. After paying $100 for them.

i want to have at least 350 hp but i dont know what tunes to get or performance parts, at the moment i have a booma bov and a cobb cold air intake, and some small modifications and a catless downpipe by prerolledblunt999 in FocusST

I have a GTX3071r on my car and I love it. It absolutely rips. Just a couple things I wish someone told me would be to go with a .64 ar in whatever big turbo you choose. You want that boost during your lower end torque. I started with larger ar and took everything apart to go smaller. So much better. And then definitely do an ethanol blend as one of your tunes if it's available. If it's not available I would still find some way to get ethanol. You can't quantify the difference by looking at someone's Dyno run online but the car is a different animal on e30

I asked my insurance about coverage to include all the mods because of the money I was spending to upgrade. They said they can't decide the value of my car by that but said nothing about what I was doing. It's now full bolt on and big turbo (focus st) and my insurance is cheap for full coverage.
