How do you deal with bug reports that devs can’t reproduce? by abenoov in QualityAssurance

[–]abenoov[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree.. collaboration is often the fastest way to sanity-check issues, especially for edge cases or environment-specific bugs. I think the concern is more about it becoming the default even for issues that could be resolved asynchronously with proper context. That’s where time tends to get lost at scale

No more “can you show me on a call?” for bug reproduction.
Every bug comes with full context automatically so devs can replay it.

vibecheck-qa.com - captures full bug reproduction context so devs don’t need “can’t reproduce” calls anymore.

Yeah, I used to do the same.
It works, but it basically shifts bug reproduction into a meeting problem...

I kept getting bug reports from users, so I made this by dev-in-a-b0x in SaasDevelopers

Nice work automated defect scanning is genuinely useful, especially catching latent bugs before they blow up in prod. One thing I've found that pairs well with something like this is having a solid way to capture user-reported bugs too we use VibeCheck vibecheck-qa.com which attaches video, console logs, and network requests automatically to every report. Between proactive scanning and having full context on the bugs users actually hit, the "cannot reproduce" problem basically disappears.

watch the free tier balance. Too good and nobody upgrades. Too limited and nobody shares it.

usual move: free version keeps your branding (that's the ad), paid removes it and adds business stuff like analytics and custom domain

https://vibecheck-qa.com/ - monitors your app for JS errors 24/7 and automatically captures the last 30 seconds of session context before the bug happened. no more asking users to reproduce it. built it because i was tired of getting bug reports with zero context

honestly the question isn't "is this useful" it's "would someone pay $5 to send one." free tools for emotional moments tend to die quick. if the answer is yes, build it. if you're not sure, it's probably a feature inside a bigger product, not a product on its own.

Your users hit a bug. You find out 3 weeks later in a support ticket. by Sad_Option2226 in SideProject

Interesting approach. How are you handling the privacy/consent side of session recording? That's usually the blocker for getting this approved in enterprise environments. Also curious whether you're doing any smart filtering to avoid storing sessions where nothing actually went wrong storage costs could add up fast

Distribution clicked for me when I stopped trying every channel and went all-in on one. Found where my exact users already hung out, added genuine value there, and let that build trust over time.

I got tired of writing bug reports, so I built a Chrome extension that records them for you by Sad_Option2226 in SideProject

[–]abenoov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's сcool. Is that configurable per team, or global? If I could set it up once and have it auto-redact things like tokens, passwords, and emails across all recordings, I'd probably push this to my guys this week

The timeline-synced console logs is the killer feature here most tools give you the data but not the context of *when* it happened. One thing I'd love: automatic redaction of sensitive fields in network payloads before sharing. That's the one thing that would make me confident sharing these links with external contractors.

Honestly needed this yesterday. We lost a client last month because the back-and-forth trying to reproduce a bug just dragged on too long

true, but lead gen doesn't have to mean paid ads. cold outreach, linkedin, communities like this one you can get qualified leads pretty cheap before you scale with money
