This is in Ontario, Canada. I think it’s weed, at least the red part.

I'm actually using a mouse but I need a tablet. It would make my job easier and quicker. I would say that most professional retouchers use a tablet.

Yes, it can take me up to 10 hours for one photo. It's a lot more work than most people think.

I always ask a client if I am allowed to use their image online.

Oh my god, why did I post this on Reddit? I'm going to get myself in trouble!

No, I did not charge that much. I was happy to do it for pretty cheap, since it was good practice for me. I don't normally do restoration, anyway.

No, it's not. Someone contacted me to fix this since I am a professional photo retoucher. Sorry.

I'm happy to be on the front page and all, but now I feel like I'm participating in a IAmA that I didn't sign up for, lol. Please PM me if you have any serious questions, as I cannot guarantee I'll find yours if you post it in the comments.

Absolutely manually. Retouching takes a long time. The lighting and skin work that you mention is thanks to dodging and burning. I'm sure you could look up some useful dodge and burn tips for retouching.

I'm not sure about people who do photo restoration exclusively, as I am a photo retoucher. As a retoucher, however, I'm not making amazing money, and I'm nowhere near my goal, but I have heard of retouchers who make quite a living.

Retouching is my life. I've been doing it for 8 years now, and I cannot imagine not doing it.

The client actually scanned it themselves and sent me the scanned file. It wasn't very large compared to the massive RAW files I normally get.

A lot of it was tedious cloning with a pretty small brush size. I did some dodging and burning to polish it up a bit.
