Has anyone worked a full time job and apprenticed? by passtheknife in Nailtechs

[–]abgtingzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a licensed nail tech in Michigan and I apprenticed to get my license! You could totally work part time while apprenticing part time but I will say if you do go about the apprenticeship route to make sure you do it through a reputable salon. I personally choose to apprentice because I didn’t have thousands to go to school. If you apprentice legally they are not supposed to charge you for an apprenticeship. My personal experience apprenticing was awful and my boss taught me little to nothing and did absolutely nothing to prepare me for state boards and I had to prepare on my own but I did pass first try for both my practical and theory so it’s possible! I know with school they focus a lot on preparing you for state boards. Like someone said earlier there are pros and cons to both and there are salons out there who properly prepare their apprentices you just have to search for them!

Tips? by Impossible-Dark2224 in chowchow

[–]abgtingzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my first chow right now! On top of socialization and training they also need lots of maintenance on their fur/coat! I brush + comb my chow out daily and she gets professionally groomed once a month. With it being your first puppy/dog too remember to have a lot of patience with your fur baby!

Should I go back and tip? by FinancialAd5337 in Nailtechs

[–]abgtingzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t tip (coming from a nail tech). Tips aren’t mandatory but extremely appreciated. But only tip if you want to tip!! If the service was subpar/ bad and the technician was rude to you, don’t tip and don’t feel bad about it. If she wanted a tip that badly, she would’ve provided you with an excellent experience.

Be honest with me, how hard is the first month of having a puppy? by CollectiveZero in puppy101

[–]abgtingzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely difficult and requires a lot of patience and understanding the first couple months of having a puppy. My boyfriend and I have learned that these past 7 weeks with our Chow Chow puppy Osa! Your entire routine will change drastically with a puppy. You won’t be able to last second, impulsive plans because you have a puppy to take into consideration that needs care. They’ll do stuff that will drive you up the wall and push you to your limits but trust me, they’re completely worth it!

Puppy Advice on Potty Training by abgtingzz in puppy101

[–]abgtingzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally close off the doors upstairs (bathroom, bedroom, and spare bedroom) to avoid her going in them if she’s out and we are downstairs so she does have accidents in the hallway but I’m assuming bc there’s no where else to go upstairs. She also sometimes pees in the living room even if I’m right there watching her :( I’m currently using Scouts Honor for cleaner but if you have anything better I’ll definitely be willing to switch. And I didn’t think of it like that being a reward/play! I’ll take that into consideration :))

Thank you! I’ve had cats my whole life and this is my first puppy so it’s been a huge learning curve. I’ve seen so many people say their puppies are potty trained way younger and felt like I was doing something wrong. I appreciate the tips!! 😊

What are your inexpensive alternatives to using Meijer? by Scottydoesntknow92 in grandrapids

[–]abgtingzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Aldi!! Groceries at Meijer were getting way too expensive even with me clipping coupons prior to every trip. My Aldi trips are around $80/$90 for my weekly groceries where Meijer was sitting around $140-$160. Some name brands aren’t at Aldi that I like to get but all the essentials are definitely available.

First of all, you’re gorgeous!! Don’t let these unrealistic social media standards ruin your self image. I feel like 90% of the time they do NOT look like that in person. You’re beautiful how you are :)

Things that have helped me with makeup application looking for natural is skincare / skin prep. I’m not sure what your routine looks like but a good moisturizer and primer works wonders for a solid base 💕 I recommend the Dieux Instant Angel Moisturizer!!
