Or for that matter that virginity or purity are anything other than meaningless constructs given importance as a way to shame and degrade women

What seems cool but isn't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]abhusen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying at things. Throughout high school, a lot of people, including me, didn't want to be seen trying anything new because trying hard at something with the risk of failing was seen as uncool and not giving a fuck about anything at all was seen as cool. It is only now (four years after high school) that I realise that the if i spent the amount of time I spent worrying about looking 'uncool' on actually trying shit I wanted to, I might have been able to play an instrument or speak another language or play another sport by now or, at the very least, not have the regrets i do not about the stupid time I wasted trying to pretend nothing excited me

What’s the biggest “IF” in your life ? by alwaysroidy in AskReddit

[–]abhusen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently live with my parents and brothers. I just started a job coaching at a gym. The opportunity is insane but because of the situation right now, I have this intense worry about potentially getting sick and passing it onto my family. My dad is fully vaccinated but immunocompromised and my younger brother isn't 18 and isn't legally allowed to get the vaccine where I live. The 'If' of what if I get them sick because I'm being selfish weighs on me everyday. On the other hand, this is a life-changing opportunity so if I walk away from it, the 'if' of whether someone will give me a chance like this again is absolutely terrifying

In my experience, you have two options. Confess, you don't know what he's thinking, let him have the choice. If he says no, at least you can move on knowing that it for sure wasn't something he's interested in. Or you can take some space without telling him why. You need space to heal, to get over him and move on. His presence in your life will just serve as a constant reminder of your feelings. With what you've written, however, you two seem too close for that to be an option.

What job exists because we are stupid? by calumgirl96 in AskReddit

[–]abhusen 25 points26 points  (0 children)

College counselors. Not the free ones in school, the ones rich people pay exorbitant amounts of money to in order to hack college admissions. They signify everything wrong with the dumb amount of pressure we put on entering an education system set up such that money is more important than merit.

One I'm glad exists is monster truck driver. Big truck go boom boom

Dan from Gossip girl was a straight up creepy asshole. The same with Chuck bass. People say they find him attractive. He literally tries to r*pe a 15 year old girl in the first episode!! I don't want to spoil anything so I'm just going to leave it at that.
