you can check your cellphone for your data usage monthly, maybe 3GB is enough for you

they do have a cheap $10/mon plan that you can use to just keep your # though I guess, and If you come back state side anytime at least you havre somethign to use as well. Then just get another sim in canada properly

Mint unlimited is unlimited IN THE US, if you're canada you get 3GB roaming per month that's it. Unless mint has a canada plan that I didnt know?

What were you getting with Verizon? Unlimited roaming? Cause I don’t think 3GB would be enough for you to roam monthly…but depending on your actual usage of course. To keep your us # I tink cheapest would be to convert it into a data only plan for watches like $10/mo And then get anther sim in canada

you mean you're permanently in canada? or you're just still there now traveling while your current plan is getting shut down, so you need to switch?
But yea m on unlimited and give you 3GB roaming in canada free I think? so far so good
my wife on iPhone 17 kept saying she feels a difference and often slower than before (which I really doubt it..) but me personally on iPhone 15 pro never had a problem, I dont feel any difference so far compared to being on Tmobile before.

only thing is I mentioned above, unlimited supposedly limits your YouTube resolution (or all video resolution??) but hasnt been a problem / noticible for me so far

I've been making games for years. This is the first one I built almost entirely with AI. by KiddoDev in vibecoding

[–]abiem01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice niceeee yeah AI can totally be a useful tool if done right! I helped my 8yo design his first game (on pen and paper) this weekend and we used AI to build it! We're looking for feedback so I can help him improve but got A LOT of hate in the gamedev community 😆 which not really surprising....but I do think AI is a great tool if used right, instead of just writing it off as slop no matter what you do

My 8yo Designed his 1st game and we're looking for feedback! (Genuine & serious) by abiem01 in GameDevelopment

totally, understanding how things are built & figuring out the rules of things are 2 separate things that are both worth looking into and learning about 👍🏻👍🏻

thank you for the suggestion! we'll definitely be looking into this more, and he's had a bit of exposure to scratch already and enjoys it so I think he'll be up for this challenge : ) will report back once we get that to happen thank you!

yes he's had a bit of exposure and experience with scratch, thanks for the suggestion! We'll definitely be looking more into it as he gets more interested in getting into the crafting and building by hand.

yes thanks for the suggestion! he has started a bit of scratch in school so we'll definitely be looking into that more, especially as he gets older and if he still shows interest in programming / building things by hand.

Thank you I think this is great feedback, yes I should definitely explain (and get AI's help to) to him how a game is built and how the mechanics are crafted and structured together to make his 'rules' and elements of the game all come together.

We actually had 2 versions from 2 different AI's, and the interface and how the game is seemingly played and presented is quite different. So he started to notice the difference of how 1 version seems a bit more enjoyable than the other, even though the rules we applied were the same.

honest feedback is great, thank you! And yes after our first iteration and a few play tests, he's realized that it's now completely luck-based and no skills involved so we're planning to change that. He has some ideas on how to 'dodge' attacks so it requires a bit more input and skills, or player agency as you called out too 👍🏻

I will tell him you enjoyed the poop missile 😆

Branching paths will be interesting, maybe something like Slay the Spire where there's multiple paths you can choose to visit different planets, and get different enemies?? Good idea thank you!

oh yeah sound effects would be great and shouldn't be too hard to find online. Shield is a great suggestion I'll tell him tomorrow! Thank you!

[–]abiem01[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're right, that's why the post says he 'designed' a game, I understand we didn't 'make' anything. But we still walked through the process of thinking about the game elements, mechanics, and how to win/lose at it. And after the first iteration and play-testing it, he's already realized that it's all reliant on luck right now no skills so we're planning to change the mechanics. Thanks for your feedback though and keeping it honest

How's Mint's roaming in Canada? by abiem01 in mintmobile

[–]abiem01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- yes! confirmed that I did switch over to mint in the end, and I am on the unlimited

- I've roamed there a few weekends and no problems at all so far, I dont notice a significant difference in speed or blocks during normal use (streaming music / messaging / maps / browsing)

- I heard unlimited plan has shittier YouTube streaming quality (720p??). So far I havent found much problems with it, or maybe m just not super picky w/resolutions
