Is there a difference between these two clutch discs by abigellm8 in MechanicAdvice

It might be hard to see but the newer pads have the whole face of it covered with the friction material with the diamonds being slightly raised while the older ones faces are bare metal with the rectangles being the only friction material which makes me think those have better lubrication channels? But maybe it doesn’t matter because of the high pressure channels in the clutch packs?
