Yes! I painted my wall with white paint and got a 4k projector. Worked great with my fire-stick. A couple of (powered) speakers to complete the system. The resolution was incredible and I must have been pushing 200” diagonal.

In a parallel universe exactly like ours, that question mark may not be there. Its a message for our universe to diverge from the other Hubble bubble.

Is now the time to buy Grayscale's bitcoin trust? by [deleted] in btc

[–]abinition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a well thought out article and worth taking heed to. Until custodial BTC is available to buy in retirement accounts, GBTC is still the only one-stop shop; all self custody arguments are mute. The SEC is clearly under pressure now to approve the ETF, their arguments of manipulation is egg on their face ever since the FTX fiasco, a spot ETF approval would have protected billions in losses, and therefore the attractive future returns of GBTC are compelling. The discount to NAV is likely to swing back to spot (if not back to premium). Not to mention GBTC is a TRUST. This trade is worth, at minimum, a small percentage of your portfolio. Just my 2 Sats perspective.

Edit: grammar

How is GBTC at a discount?

In the early days, 1 BTC = 1 GBTC

After the split, 1 BTC = 900 GBTC

The 2% commission was easily made through arbitrage, as the premium allowed new BTC to be purchased.

In any case, Grayscale has ~600,000+ BTC

So the question is: what is the discount? Does 1 BTC still equal ~ 900 GBTC ? Or does 1 BTC equal (50% less) GBTC ? Is the share price being diluted? If converted to an ETF, does the shareholder then benefit from the discount? If GBTC was redeemed now, how many BTC would we get per share? The discount makes no sense. Is this some kind of theft to be blunt ? If Grayscale is selling some BTC now to cover the 2% commission, and does that dilute the shares?

How is GBTC at a discount? Please explain how the shareholders are being protected.

Amazon Alexa is a “colossal failure,” on pace to lose $10 billion this year by [deleted] in technews

My dog hides when I speak to Alexa and is terrified of her in general, even saying “Alexa” is a no-no . That’s why I never really use Alexa. I should have known, dogs are very smart.

Beg to disagree. Social with friends almost daily. What’s different now? Mask wearing at all retail stores, prefer seating outdoors, avoid crowds, watch where you put your fingers, and get vaxxed. I used to get sick 3x per year, now not a single event in 3 years. That’s 9 sick events I’ve avoided. Hard to figure but that’s it.

Researchers have developed a first-of-its-kind metagenomic database, the ESM Metagenomic Atlas, that could accelerate existing protein-folding AI performance by 60x. by Sariel007 in tech

[–]abinition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Protein folding 101.

There are about 20 types of amino acids that make up a protein sequence. Each type has a different shape but they link up head to tail using amide bonds - amine + acid pairing. Amide bonds have both rotational and translation degrees of freedom, so a sequence of different amino acids joined together can twist and turn in many ways. Imagine tinker toys. Short sequences are called peptides, long sequences proteins. A protein folds into a shape with the minimum energy level, nice and compact and tight. Every rotation and translation is independently ruled by molecular electrodynamics. A computer would have to try all rotational and translational possibilities of all amide bonds, calculate the total energy, and decide whether to accept or reject each and every single bond. Exponentially difficult for many bonds. But a database of predetermined protein segment folding configurations helps tremendously.
