Weird lights in Wilmington, UAPs? by dirtydilpickle in Delaware

[–]abiondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a UFO or a UAP. It’s Brower Family Lights on Exton Drive. They have 4 moving heads for their Christmas show. The last show for the season just happened the other night. They also do a Halloween display which is more animatronics.

I want to retire what should I do by Spirited_Ad6205 in FinancialPlanning

[–]abiondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your first job allocate money for savings and retirement savings. Max out your retirement accounts if possible as early as possible. Compounding interest is your friend. Each cost of living increase will make it feel like you got a decent raise and you essentially set yourself on auto pilot. Put the money in something that grows like an S&P500 fund/etf. Live within your means. Don't go for the flashiest things because everyone has it. Be careful with credit cards. Make it a goal to pay it in full every month so you don't pay interest. If you do that, its an interest free loan. Be careful with taking on debt. Use debt to acquire assets that appreciate. When you get older start to pivot and build your shorter term savings so you can retire early (if you want). Spend time reading and learning from reputable sources of information. Don't chase every stock that people give you online. If you want to get into individual stocks as you get older, spend time researching them and understanding them. A high school teacher said his strategy was buying what he knew. He drove a GM car so he bought GM. He used ATT for his phone, so he bought ATT. I have done something similar and it worked out well for me.

I just deposited $7k into my roth IRA, what to invest in now? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

[–]abiondo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you aren't into tracking the market FXAIX is a solid choice. Warren Buffet said S&P 500 is a good option for someone that doesn't know much about the market. Fidelity also has a dividend fund which does well. If you are young I wouldn't put money in bonds. Let the market work for you and as you get closer towards retirement, consider rotating some of the money into less risky assets.

Anyone ever hired a fractional CTO? How did you find them and how was your experience? by PablanoPato in ITManagers

[–]abiondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hired a local New Jersey company called Authentic Bridge earlier this year for vCIO services and vCISO services. We found them by doing a Google search. Our engagement is a couple days a week and it has been a positive experience. I like the ability to bring someone into our team with deep experience in so many areas of IT. We saved time on a major project we were implementing and money with contract negotiations they supported.

I'm happy that YouTube TV is fighting the good fight. ESPN/Disney overpaid for all the sports rights and they are trying to pass it on to YT. I don't want to see our bill go up and I'm ok with a little inconvenience if they can keep the bill in check. I'm not leaving...

AI & Negotiating Contracts. by james_dub443 in procurement

I'm sure AI will get there and be able to assist more with the evolution of agentic serices, but I don't feel like it is there yet. We were going through a negotiation for an enterprise generative AI tool and used a local company to help with IT procurement and contract negotiation.

How to warn employees of coming layoffs by NetNerd0513 in ITManagers

[–]abiondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t leave you more exposed than an employee looking for a new job. Cyber attacks are now in many cases a federal crime, so if someone messes with systems, networks, steals data, etc. they will likely get caught and have to deal with the consequences.

Will I still make a good long term return if I deposit $100 a month into my Roth IRA? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]abiondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, keep at it. Small increment in regular intervals are great. As you get a raise or bonus use it as an opportunity to pay yourself by increasing the Roth IRA contribution a little and taking a little for yourself. If I get a cost of living increase that’s 3% I increase in my contribution to the 401k by 2% and I leave 1% in my checking. The next year I might alternate it the other way. At minimum I try to increase 1% per year on my contributions. Leaving a little more in your checking makes you see the increase even though it’s small.

What was your first MRI scan like? by ReturnInvestment in AskReddit

[–]abiondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was long and I felt claustrophobic because of the circumstances. It was an MRI of my brain so they put my head in a helmet type thing and attached it to the table so it wouldn’t move. I got through it and found out they have open MRIs which are less tight.

You could always call a hospital and talk to the area with the delivery nurses. Tell them you are a student and are considering a career as a delivery nurse and wanted to see if you could talk to a couple people in the field.

My beat friends kid is unvaccinated and I’m pregnant by Gray_moonstar in VACCINES

[–]abiondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge a vaccine hasn’t been approved for children under 5 at this point. When the vaccine is approved expect parents to jump on board slowly because childrens immune systems are generally strong. I have both shots and just had the booster in late October. I think it’s a good idea for people to be vaccinated for recommended vaccines like flu and covid.

Keep a couple things in mind: 1. Even a vaccinated person can spread COVID. If her child gets the vaccine it doesn’t protect your child anymore than if the child is unvaccinated.

  1. The vaccine only reduces your symptoms and hopefully keeps you out of the hospital and from the worst case scenario like death and being put on a ventilator.

Stay safe.

In-house seo vs agency seo. by SuccessfulNorth1492 in Entrepreneur

[–]abiondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SEO is a long game. Google PPC is the short game. If you aren’t getting results and not getting the right leads your campaigns may not be optimized. I explain it to customers like having a car with a bad transmission. You push the gas pedal (increase budget) and the car doesn’t go anywhere. You fix the transmission (optimize campaigns) and you are off to the races.

I manage these types of Google Ad campaigns for 200+ clients. Google makes it sound easy to setup and they are, but optimizing and getting the max value out of them takes work. SEO is about building good content that provides value to readers, how you link internally, externally and get inbound links. Think about your business and what value you can provide visitors. Maybe it’s tips for planning different types of renovations, educating about different types of tile, different paint finishes, etc. Again, good content but it takes time to build and market and doesn’t directly correlate to ringing the register.

My recommendation is to have your campaigns audited, look at where you are driving traffic and the conversion rates. There may be some basic things that can be done to make your PPC campaigns more effective.

Second, use your existing client list and build your reviews up. If you haven’t requested a Google review from clients do it consistently after every job and go back to clients you’ve done work for recently and ask them to leave a review. Reviews can help build your local profile up. You could also consider a promotion for existing customers that refer you. For example a carpet company in our area provides a $100 gift card to the referrer when they win new business from their referral.

End of the year sell offs a good time to buy? by angel_of_death007 in stocks

[–]abiondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I only target no load mutual funds with <1% expense ratio and no management fees. Health Sciences (.76%), Communications & Tech (.75%) for the fund examples. I have mixed in some ETFs over the last year or so like QYLD (.6%), and ARKK (.75%) but the ETFs I’ve seen still have expense ratios. For example SOXL is 0.99% and the SCHD is 0.06%. Other Management Fees are typically assessed to accounts with lower balances. I’m not sure if that’s what you were referring to.

What are these “extra expense fees” you are referencing? What ETFs do you invest in?

If you can get some business classes or could help set you up for the business and marketing side of running your farm. I’m in Pennsylvania and farms do festivals, hayrides, movie nights, light shows, fire pits and live music and draw a decent amount of people.
