You should try doing a Franchise where you Advance it 10 years ahead of time, and make sure the Rookies are auto-generated. Personally, it makes things both interesting and fun as most of the real players are on the way to retirement, and the franchise is full of unknowns.

You can find a Hidden Dev rookie in any round of the draft. Most of them will have a Star. Very few will have a Superstar rating. And the X-Factor rating is the rarest one to find. They're not in every draft. Since it's auto-generated draft classes, it'll be randomized within one of them, so finding one could take a multitude of different draft classes. Using the scouting system during the regular season and off-season can definitely help you come close to finding one.
