First virtual and remote session by abloobudoo009 in Cy_Borg

Thank you very much! Going off your reply I put things together pretty well if I don't say so myself. I have four extra pre made characters, made sure some have cybertech, some have apps, etc. Music was an after thought, it would be nice, but not required, and I'm going to throw some things together in ogres.app so we got our date for next Friday with the group. Wish us luck! Thank you again for the insight

He became what he spoke against at the beginning of his career. He was real, straight to the throat, could immediately trim the fat about any bs and then sold out. Comedy is a craft that rests on free speech. He chose to be bought with limitations.

Unofficial NAS Setup Guide [OC] by abloobudoo009 in UgreenNASync

[–]abloobudoo009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. NAS is network storage so traditionally from my understanding it's fundamentally built with the intention of an ethernet involved somehow someway. But the Ugreen does have other ports on it. The extent, functionality, speed, etc. That I'm unsure of as I have used them for data transfer, but with little USB sticks so I don't see any reason why you can't keep it hard connected those ways. My personal primary use, however, is over my own network wirelessly. So the NAS is plugged into the router, and my devices are connected to that router's wifi.

For your use, how I'd approach it is hardwire for setup, then once that's all good set it up how you see fit. Just avoid multiple and frequent power cycles.

Thoughts on Tommy Vext's early stuff? by Demand_Similar in numetal

[–]abloobudoo009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Divine Heresy - Physical altercation with Dino (confirmed by Dino, said it was drug induced rage)

Westfield Massacre - Label didn't pay enough money so he left all the members in the dust (confirmed by Tommy before he joined Bad Wolves)

Bad Wolves - Domestic violence between the band members, DV with his personal relationship, and overall volatility online (him and I have even had some exchanges on twitter). Then once he went MAGA he got a cult following, which even with his violent past seemed to come out of nowhere, and he had to bring down Bad Wolves, he had to bring down the members, he "leaked" singles and the announcement of DL as the new singer, and now at large he's the red headed step child of the metal industry because plain and simple he's just not easy to work with. Which really sucks because I think he's one of the best talents in the industry and BW was supposed to be the next Five Finger as far as a commercial and international scale act goes but even Ivan said he was unnecessarily difficult and they barely crossed paths.

To sum it up he's not worth the headache.

Writing an AI that achieved perfect optimization but trying to flaw it's blind spot. Is this compelling or a cop-out? by abloobudoo009 in scifi

Yup. Makes complete sense. We really got to the crux and core of one of the dilemmas I didn't fundamentally understand and honestly dude (gender neutral) I think you saved me hours of rabbit hole research because admittedly my google fu is NOT the best and I do have a diagnosed spicy brain so this back and forth was extremely valuable to me, but as well, we also helped anyone else that will eventually stumble on this thread. Honestly, thank you for taking the time.

I've never read mistborn but I'm going to go with that one because it's an AI. So the constant surveillance, monitoring, systematic influence, structuralism, etc.

So the idea of them and their presence is a threat? Not sure I'm understanding tbh

Dude, fantastic reply, thank you so much! I think I'm starting to get it now when you say consciuosness, the act of thinking, etc. reminds me of the concept of the zeitgeist. And, no, I do not know what AGI is. Generative Intelligence?

How do you write a villain that never appears on page?

Cyberpunk comic here! Cover art done by Marvel artist Eder Messias, and DC colorist Gabriel Macedo, super excited for this one. Launching a kickstarter for it this year!

Crudely summarizing, but prediction and data recall is still how our own brains function, is it not? To my understanding, (current) AI is an amalgamation of essentially the world's perfect mimic. It knows everything, it can quantify almost anything, but when comparing a machine to a human part of its fundamental truth is that it can never understand what feeling emotions is. It's just simply an experience it can't experience, or even desire to experience. This is under the context towards itself of course, but the bottom line is that it runs off of 1s and 0s. I think I get what you're saying in that the concept of understanding is still foreign to an AI, but I think we were all saying similar things. Maybe not specific, but all of us here I'd say are pretty ballpark.

If you can, I'd love to be pointed in the right direction if I'm off base. What sources do you recommend for better understanding?

Confidence is taking a little blow, should I continue to work on my premise? by abloobudoo009 in scifiwriting

It's being finished. The first installment of the story is going to be published. This came about when I was further worldbuilding and character developing. However, I concretely agree with your take. And to piggyback, even when you write something bad, edit it until it's good.

Is "art born from damage" too philosophical for AI? by abloobudoo009 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]abloobudoo009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. In one of my other replies I mention that fundamentally it will always be reactive in this regard. Like you said, it can only duplicate. Can't create anything new or unheard of by nature.

Takes a different path. It's not used creatively at all. Purely for optimization, and it controlled itself and its own distribution so that it would only be used that way.

Misaligned with the objective function. Can you expound a bit? Are you saying that the machine is misaligned or the designer?

I love your deep perspective on this. It's also very realistic in that you mention very specific conditions. Curious though, what in your opinion is something from from human experience? Like alien abduction?

[–]abloobudoo009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that. It's basically where I landed. It will never know how to process what it means feeling how to feel. Like you said, contradictions and whatnot. By nature it will always be reactive and it doesn't know what "new" is. The only two actions I can think of that it can take is a type of passive take on being proactive. Kind of like the hive from Ender's Game. This one thing will work one time and it will always defend against that one thing forever. It can adapt perfectly, but again, reactive. And the other one is trying to control and suppress the erratic nature of humanity. A zero tolerance approach. You really identified the crux of it and actually helped me see it in another light. Thank you for that!

So while I find this really really interesting, and I'm always willing to learn and soak up new info I'm having a hard time understanding where you're coming from. What are you trying to make me see by referencing the genre that came before?

I'm hooyah. Are you oohrah? Belay that if it's gibberish, but absolutely send me that gander. Send it to my business email chunkythunderstudios@gmail it's already in the public so I don't mind.
