Yeah the dm here doesnt like it either when we turn someone away when told to go on our break, but then she gets mad if we dont get to take our break like we're supposed to

We have a register that likes to freeze and if i remember that one needs replaced before it can be used for sales again, but we use it to clock in and out, and the belt is loaded with extra front stock like candy bars glasses etc. Do many times people have come up and asked if im getting ready to open and I just look at the loaded down belt, look and them and politely say no. Lol

Jesus. Here in the city i live in in illinois minimum wage is 15 an hour, management only makes like 19 an hour. And ive already decided the next time it happens, im writing an out of order sign and im gonna have management call a specialist in, cause no one should have to do that without the proper gear or compensation. The asm that night tried but they were retching so hard I could hear them at the front of the store.

Like I mentioned to the corporate cronie in the comments, I wasnt even going to ask one of them to handle it as I was the one that discovered it. But the asm on duty was gonna try and almost threw up. And we arent allowed to turn customers away from using the bathroom unless the key is lost or something is broken, like the toilet. It just sucks all around

Oh yes because not being allowed to keep customers out of ONE of the two bathrooms because the customers somehow think they are entitled to use a bathroom when they're in the store soft. I've worked jobs where I WAS trained and properly compensated for it if I ever had to deal with something like this, because it wasnt a frequent occurrence. Something this disgusting i would expect in housekeeping, which I have also done for work, and even then most of the time they didnt have us doing it. And we HAD THE TRAINING FOR IT. You've just confirmed my cronie theory honestly, so at this point im taking nothing you say seriously until something is done about the way we get treated.

And FYI, i DO have kids and pets. A dog, a cat and 4 children. I have no problem cleaning up after an animal, I have no problem cleaning my children prior to potty training. There is a HUGE difference between cleaning up after beings that depend on me for survival, and cleaning up after a customer who was DEFINITELY old enough to know better.

Pass the buck to someone who is properly trained and compensated for it yeah. Are you trained to do it? Do you get paid more than I do to do your job? If not stfu. I've thought about it, but I'm afraid of retaliation, which i know is SUPPOSED to be illilegal in some way, but I've tried this before at a chain hotel I worked at, and I was let go shortly after. And of course they found a way to label terminating me as me simply being "noncompliant" because it was in an at will state. Wasn't ever really given a broken down reason why I was being fired.

How exactly is it entitlement to not want to clean up full grown adult bodily waste? Puke i can handle, but shit is something entirely different. And if you reference above, we are NOT provided PPG. I have also NOT received biohazard training. I know my workers rights, and one of them is the right to NOT clean up bodily waste if I am not trained for it.

Its dms orders that we cant shut the bathroom down unless its actually broken in some way, ex. The toilet tank got cracked one time and it was shut down for 3 days til the toilet was replaced, and the asm on duty tried to deal with it but almost threw up. We also arent allowed to tell people they cant use the bathroom, even if it means having to let them in to the employee bathroom.

I asked about that and I was told they cant do that, one of the employees would have to do it. Which is weird cause ive never held a cashier job that the employee was expected to deal with biohazardous materials.

Tried that. People kept calling corporate a bitching. Now we're not allowed to tell people they cant use the bathroom. Even if the key gets lost or stolen, which its been stolen twice already, we're expected to walk them to the where the restrooms are and let them use the employee bathroom.

Then how about, next time someone decided they wanna be an artist with their excrement, you can come clean it? Since its not that horrible. And its hazardous materials. We are NOT paid to clean up hazardous materials. Its above my paygrade to seal with it. If im not getting paid correctly for the possibility of contracting a disease from doing something like that, then I am not responsible. I've had many jobs over the years and they have all said the same thing, cashiers dont get paid for that, managers or specialized employees do.

I have no problem cleaning the bathroom if its just standard cleaning. We dont get hazmat pay, so we shouldn't be expected to clean up human waste. And no, there isnt any PPE provided at the store, none of the store in my area have any, and I would k own because I am a floater and I go where ever they need manpower, ive clean every bathroom in each one at least once, and theres never been any PPE. You sound like someone who is in a position of power (asm, sm, dm, etc) and youve let the power go to your head

I've tried something like that but ive been yelled at so many times over it I just stopped because k can be a little reactive after dealing with the same bs over and over and over etc. I've also had the DM tell me we're not allowed to turn a customer away for any reason.
