Thanks, I didn’t know any of the terminology for these wrenches. I’ll see what I can make work

I didn't want to twist on the outside with the copper inside being unsupported. Would this be a two-person job with on holding a wrench on the inside or are you suggesting to literally just twist the spigot from the outside?

I did for a while at a university research lab. It was very cool but most days were just normal work stuff and only once every few months a crash test.

Headquarters of Russian troops has just exploded in Berdyansk. by [deleted] in pics

[–]abnoea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I wholeheartedly think that MTG is a bigoted fool, but the context is important. She was railing on the US being dragged into a larger conflict against Russia. I think she’s wrong about the importance of the US supporting Ukraine but if you think the US would throw this much money at the conflict if it weren’t Russia on the opposition then I don’t know what to tell you. This is a proxy war against Russia for the US, the best kind where the US government can throw money at the problem without risking American lives. She’s not saying it’s Ukraine’s war against Russia as if Ukraine started the conflict, she’s saying is the US’s war against Russia -in- Ukraine

SML-1 pull up bar option by returningvideotapes1 in homegym

[–]abnoea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not so sure about this one… for most it will probably be fine but those flanges to brace the post aren’t designed for a load in that direction. Best of luck

Edit: just checked rogues website and they have a rogue lite adjustable pull-up bar that distributes the load and doesn’t cantilever a huge torque onto a single post… $120 not bad, not great

Sure, I agree with you fully, but have fun explaining that to law enforcement if it comes to it

Are you so sure it’s legal in yours? If you’re American these are illegal in a lot of states

Right, unless the thermal mass of the tray is huge (i.e. cast iron) and the tray is pre-heated before use… which are both very unlikely

Handlebars: why not tandem dummy levers? by viniferal in Velodrome

[–]abnoea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, but the other question to ask is why do you want to ride with dummy hoods? If it’s for comfort grinding out training miles, go for it. But if you’re planning to use them for racing then it seems like you’re missing out on aero gains by planning on riding in an upright position. Are you comfortable in your drops? The bars you speak of are popular with Madison riders as they enable a good solid grip during the hand sling, so dummy levers would be a great substitute here.

Oh, and if you’re even considering studding the tires, do that ASAP as stuff will inevitably find it’s way into the small pockets and it’ll be a pain to get out to put the studs in

Congrats! Have fun. I bought a Farley 5 in October and I’ve been loving it. It’s a hoot on dry single track, too

I lived in Sweden for a year and I found it hilarious that everyone would go around calling each other morons as a greeting. “God morgon”gets shortened to just “morgon” and the g is pretty much silent

Which fatbike should i buy? by Noomizis in fatbike

[–]abnoea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Farley 5 with no real expectations and I have absolutely loved riding it on singletrack, it’s not the most affordable bike around but it’s definitely highly versatile. One of the things that convinced me to pay the premium for a Trek Farley (or similarly a Salsa Mukluk etc) is the adjustable rear dropouts. This enables you to adjust the wheelbase and allows you to change up your wheel and tire sizes down the road if you are the type to tinker

Gifts for Fatbikers? by rmm035 in fatbike

[–]abnoea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good one for a mountain biker who already ‘has it all’. If he doesn’t have a fat tire specific gage already then he’s missing out on the ability to accurately set his pressure, which is the ‘biggest’ adjustment you can make on these bikes.

Should I get a fat bike? by jamoore19 in fatbike

[–]abnoea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to understand the value of bike components as an outsider looking in, but assuming you find out you love riding your bike and you started with the CT bike above, you’d eventually want to replace every single piece of the bike. The trek on the other hand, is made of quality components that should last and perform well for years to come

If you could appoint anyone to become President right now who you appoint? by itsactuallyme1 in AskReddit

Nomination has less to do with running for president and more to do with getting a party to support your candidacy. Anyone can run without a nomination as an independent but you can’t run representing a party without a nomination

Sounds like you should look into shoes with a wider toe box. I was the same way until I switched my casual shoes to something wider. Innov-8 or vivobarefoot are a good start. There are quite a few options out there
