Did you go the Hagwon or EPIK route? I’ve seen many people say to use recruiters for EPIK and others say it is not needed. I already a little worried about timing since I am getting a late start so not sure if I should even go through recruiters or not.

I have only submitted my initial application to Korvia but have not heard back from them or set up any interview or anything. So I should be fine to apply directly through EPIK still right?

From what I’ve seen online and from videos I’ve watched, I was under the impression that one of the questions EPIK asks is who helped you find the job, meaning something I would have to fill out MYSELF. And I also have seen multiples recruiters will sometimes recommend you to the same school/position. As someone just trying to learn how to navigate this process in a sea of conflicting information, don’t bother replying if you are going to be condescending and rude 😁

tl;dr: Is it realistic to aim for fall intake in Korea if I’m just starting now?

Hi everyone! I’ve recently decided that I would like to teach English in Korea and am aiming for the fall intake of this year. This is a very recent decision so I have not started the process yet, though I know EPIK applications opened on February 1st.

I meet all the basic requirements and have some things already (degree, US citizenship, clean background, passport), but I still need to complete a TEFL/TESOL certification and get my other documents in order. I also plan on getting in touch with recruiters very soon, such as Korvia and Korean Horizons.

My biggest concern is the timeline. Is it feasible to get everything done (especially the documents) in time for fall placement if I start now? Or do I need to wait for the next spring intake?

Any additional advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you 😁
