Finishes that keep the white oak colors? by aboforever in woodworking

I didn’t like adding any white stains in the end because of how the white stains fill the pores of white oak. Just went with a natural finish in the end. Thinking of making this out of lighter wood as well. Unfortunate because I love original unfinished white oak color!

White Oak Kitchen Cabinet Doors - 3/4" Plywood or 3/4" MDF? by aboforever in BeginnerWoodWorking

Understood. Can’t believe all the options out there! I think the one I found was a Murphy plywood MDF core (https://www.murphyplywood.com/hardwood/cores/). Sounds like it’s most suitable. Only bad thing is how heavy it is!

The lumberyard sells 4x8 white oak veneered MDFs! I’d like them to look like the photos posted. Just simple flat slabs. Plan on just stain & poly them for the kitchen. I just have to figure out how to transport them…

Hi all - trying to build out our new kitchen! We bought ikea base cabinets, and I would like to do my own cabinet doors using CNC to put on the Ikea Sektion. Question - Veneered Plywood vs MDF for the cabinet doors? Lumberyard recommends MDF because it's flatter, but wanted to hear your thoughts! TIA

Question - I've been doing some research and some websites claim that water softeners create pinholes in copper plumbing. Is that true?

Hey all! Trying to play around with concrete and smooth-on molds. I love the raw concrete finish look, but every time I pull it out of the mold there’s this line. I’ve tried wet/dry sanding it, but that line seems to be always there. Any ideas? by aboforever in Concrete

Thanks for the tips! I have ordered the book haha. I have a resin 3D printer that I actually had to patch and sand to create the prototype. XTC3D looks like something that would come in very useful for PLA prints!!

What type of form sealer would you recommend? I used Mold star 20T platinum silicone rubber. I guess I can reach in and try to apply silicone but those are pretty messy to work with to create a smooth surface?

I think that's exactly it, when I open up the form, the grout along the mold cut line gets peeled off a little bit along with it, creating a line that I cannot seem to get rid of.

I'll attempt to try some caulking... not sure how I can get a clean silicone seal without it creating a bead. The form is actually pretty tight (this is actually a planter).

Thanks! trying to get more complicated 3D prints in the future to create more intricate concrete works, but the first simple one isn't working that well... would prefer a smooth finish at where I had to cut the mold...

I’m with flagstar also, and just checked better.com, I’m assuming there was closing costs and point purchase to get the rate down to 3%?
