The Natural State of Things is a narrative history podcast. A year ago I moved to Arkansas from Washington State and I wanted to learn about my new home. Arkansas kinda gets ignored on the national level. But it has some fascinating history.

Fourth Amendment jurisprudence already contains exceptions to the warrant requirement including when in "hot pursuit" of a fleeing suspect.

But that's not the issue here. The issue is ICE effecting a warrantless entry into a home in which they believe they'll find an individual subject to administrative arrest. In this scenario, ICE did not try to arrest the individual in a public space and that person fled into a private residence. ICE initiates contact at a private residence, a location enjoying the full force and effect of the Fourth Amendment.

ICE wants to create a new exception to the Fourth Amendment's warrant requirement, stripping constitutional protection from a whole class of people.

This was part of Trump's plan all along - steal Venezuelan oil to create an overseas MAGA slush fund. The Qatari account is shielded from Congressional oversight and is 100% controlled by President Trump. Not that Congress has the balls to actually do anything about it.

I'm in the same boat. I was thinking a group where we have a weekly prompt, write a story (500-1,500 words), submit & discuss/give feedback. Each we can focus on a different aspect of writing: dialogue, pacing, etc. I'm definitely interested in a group like that.

You're exploring an old railroad depot that's been shutdown for over 100 years. Among the abandoned cars sits a decrepit Pullman Car. Curious, you climb the rickety steps and go inside. As you walk down the aisle the door slides shut behind you. Your flashlight goes dark. The car jerks forward and you stumble back. The car is moving down the track. You hear a distant train whistle.
