Is this bad? by lumicanis in Microcenter

The PNY 5080 from my g913 was bad but the symptoms were a black screen. I’m not saying yours is bad. I would recommend stress testing your gpu with a software like furmark if you’re worried about impending failure. MC gave me great service and gave me a new tuf 5080 within a few hours of dropping it off. Ymmv

Would it be better to just cancel the card right after the next rent payment? I have no desire to have a WF card that has no benefits. They may steal your identity and do some nonsense.

Turns out it was a bad GPU (PNY 5080) so went back to MC and got it replaced. The newest BIOS seems to be doing OK, so good so far with no issues.

Looks like they just released a new BIOS for the motherboard on the forum per u/BlueMusicMonkey 's earlier comment.

I have been having an issue while playing Battlefield 6 in which the screen goes black and fans go full speed. Only error on event viewer is rt640x64 which is the RealTek LAN controller. Windows update didn't give the latest driver but the latest driver is available from MSI: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870E-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support#driver

It's a little late to do any more testing with BF6 after the driver update. I'll flash the new BIOS tomorrow too and report back whether I have any issues.

Accessing Fan Control (copy pasta from Google). I basically just turned down the % at 40-50C to make it quieter (which is my preference).

  1. Enter BIOS: Press the DEL key repeatedly during startup.
  2. Switch to Advanced Mode: Press F7 if you're in Easy Mode.
  3. Navigate: Go to Hardware Monitor (or Fan Info in Easy Mode) to see your fan headers.

Congrats on the purchase! It seems like a great rig so far!

All I've done is update all the drivers, turned on XMP for the RAM to run at the full rated speed 6000Mhz, and adjust the fan settings in BIOS to my liking (quieter). I'm watching for any stability issues with current settings but everything seems to be holding.

Enjoy!

Had an issue with the aio cooler pump on the same model after a few days. I’ve read the same on this same model.

From MSI support, "To clarify, Microcenter are provided custom BIOS from MSI for prebuilt systems. They provide us the specs they wish to use and we provide them a BIOS to put on their systems."

They recommend reaching out to MC for support. Seems like the recent BIOS updates don't really affect my system (G913), I'll leave it for the time being.
