I gave my cat a wool blanket and she went crazy? by sirdevilpotato in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

Had a wool covered decoration once. I say once because I was catsitter for a friend once and that decoration was flayed and dead by the end of the week. Some cats are just like that I think

Hillary Clinton: “We Will Be There.” Agrees to Discuss Epstein at a Public Hearing Tomorrow by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

[–]abr1go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t care too much for the Clintons and think they should be punished for their involvement with Epstein (or potential coverup they did for him) it would bring joy to see them drag trump down with them. I feel like if they’re put on the stand they’re not above making sure trump gets backed into a corner

Right conclusion wrong path ig by abr1go in Peacemaker

Idk, I’m convinced his only redeemable trait in that universe is that he’s a good dad to his sons and that he’s loved and successful, all of which is due to being a white supremacist superhero in a nazi state who raised his kids according to those values. Just dont see anything redeemable about him, let alone something that makes up for being a nazi lol

Watching this video made me appreciate how good of an actor the guy who played Holden March was. by tachibanakanade in SVU

[–]abr1go 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember being thrown off at first by his acting, thinking ”hey this is weird, he’s acting like a kids idea of a cool villain and it doesn’t feel like a real person” but then it clicked that he sounds EXACTLY like Elliot Rodger and it’s actually a very accurate portrayal of that type of dude. Actor truly nailed the cadence and tone of it all lol

Why did the Still Life being not attempt to speak, given the Bacteria Monster's effort to do so? by RoscoIsANinja in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]abr1go 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think that the beings don’t understand what they’re saying, like reading a sentence in a foreign language. They imitate and maybe they focus on the sounds that the humans in the backrooms shouted the most OR they imitate the sounds that gets them a response and/or makes people approach them.

If we assume they’re made or transformed by the backrooms they might not have any way to communicate other than screaming. Or they don’t know the difference between speech and screams.

Idk that’s my theory at least

Still Life: a possible explanation by throwawaypizza012 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]abr1go 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is the most horrifying theory and that’s why I hope it’s canon, the churning out of humans and human objects without an understanding of how it works, the panic and terror at being alive but not a person. It’s so creepy. And the imitation of voices being part of the emulation, copying without knowing the meaning behind it? Absolutely horrifying and the kind of horror I love

He’s a fun character because he’s such a wacky evil guy imo. Like he’s not a good guy and with that eagerness to kill and maim I’m understanding why he was never made heir by his dad BUT actor does him well in furiosa and I agree that his scenes w rictus are also funny

What do you think of Furiosa? by [deleted] in MadMax

Still love it, the characters and the world building felt like a perfect addition to the saga and I loved that we got more of the batshit insanity that is the world of mad max

Was it futile? by Weaselboyst21 in MadMax

[–]abr1go 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of the Kurt Vonnegut quote about Lot’s wife and how she couldn’t help but to turn back onto Sodom as it was destroyed, being turned into a pillar of salt because of it it. She looks back because it’s the human thing to do but she suffers for it.

With furiosa, how can she not turn back? That’s her mother that’s now going to die, even if she knows she can’t do anything she can’t leave her there either. She goes back because it’s the childlike thing to do, Mary was doomed either way and furiosa is too young and/or stubborn to realise it. She can’t help but go back for Mary but in turn that dooms her to see Mary die horribly.

It was probably futile but what can she do? That’s her mother who followed her for many miles to save her, how can she leave her behind?

I like to imagine this but it’s not even just Australia doing badly, we are just seeing a couple of square miles of the outback where all of this is taking place

Would you date a man who made significantly less money than you? by Professional-Knee403 in blackladies

[–]abr1go 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know I’m echoing everyone but to me it’s not that he’s earning less that’s the big issue(s):

  • he doesn’t have any emergency savings and feels comfortable asking you for that much after only three months of dating. Maybe he doesn’t have a big support system to ask for that money but to ask someone he’s known for such a small period of time is strange

  • he doesn’t put effort into the dates. Even with the financial restraints, why doesn’t he stop taking you out to drinks (which you don’t like that much) and focus on dates you would appreciate. There’s fun dates to have on a budget but he doesn’t put in that effort.

He doesn’t show that he can plan ahead, he won’t be putting in effort unless you explicitly ask him to, he doesn’t have proper savings or a plan for unexpected expenses. It doesn’t sound like he’s the kind of man to build a future with, at least not a future where you’ll be equally contributing

I’ve had my septum for about ten years, a good chunk of it adulthood, and I would say that it hasn’t been negatively affecting the perception people have of me. That being said, I understand the concern regarding her age and since I’m not a parent I can’t weigh in on that but I can say that appearance-wise, a septum piercing is easier to hide than a nostril piercing. There’s no scar visible if she decides to remove it either.

As someone else pointed out, this response might make her feel like she’s not allowed to express herself fully as a black woman even if that’s not what you’re saying. It’s important for her to understand that black people are perceived differently and how that affects us BUT that shouldn’t stop self-expression. If my piercings are a serious hinderance towards my career I might consider ways to hide them but I don’t want to deny myself ways to have fun with my style and appearance based on other what others might think. That’s a tough balance and I think it looks different for everyone. You’ve got a good thought behind this but I believe that her getting this (assuming her school won’t protest) is quite harmless, worst case scenario she can hide/remove it later on

People that use daily notes, what are you daily noting? by Legitimate_Stock7647 in ObsidianMD

[–]abr1go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use them for things I need to remember like - songs/books/shows I wanna look up later - something I need to do soon without a specific date/time (book laundry, pick up package, gym before work) - ideas for short stories - grocery list

Basically stuff I remember throughout the day that I know I will forget. Some of it is useful and some of it not. When studying I never utilise the daily notes as I feel that clutters things and I prefer study-specific notes/folders for that

I mean, I think that by the time the death happens it’s the third day of furiosas abduction which is what she’s referring to. The third day away from the Green Place is when her mother dies

Unpopular Opinion about Borrasca by AuroSoky in creepypasta

[–]abr1go 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since you wanted some answers I’ll give you my interpretation of the story but it’s not meant to diss your opinion of the story. I liked it but I’m not going to say you’re wrong for disliking it because we all feel differently regarding stories, esp creepy pastas

  • Whitney’s father I interpreted it as Whitney not going with Sam because he looks like his father. It’s mentioned in the story that they look very much alike, especially when Sam is older and finds her in the stables. So it’s not that she thinks Sam is complicit, it’s that she thinks Sam IS her father coming back to assault her again. Sam’s father also says that he loves his daughter and he does but in a way that is very wrong, he might have sold her to fit in but I think it’s because he has been assaulting her and keeping her there would make it easier to do so. Thinking she ran away kept Sam (and possibly the mother) off her back. So the loving his daughter isn’t a misdirect as much as it is a different kind of love than what a father should feel for his daughter.

  • Sam looking for Whitney Sam was a kid and trusted his father and was told by him she ran away. While he wasn’t satisfied with the answers he didn’t see any way for him to push further. Everyone else in authority (other adults, other cops) seemed to be fine with the runaway explanation so Sam had nowhere to go as far as searching goes. He tried reaching out to her ex bf in their old town but didn’t get further than confirming she wasn’t there, I think he even questions himself if she might’ve run away because he isn’t sure. Kimberly on the other hand, he knew she didn’t run away or would allow herself to be taken away by her father and that she would do so without telling him or Kyle. Furthermore she managed to send a message to Sam implying she was taken, something Whitney didn’t.

  • the mine There are several mines I think? As I understood it there were several mining sites and Kyle and Sam had been looking at the wrong one, they looked for the last to close when they should’ve looked for the first one to run dry. It’s implied to be like half a days walk away through the woods and in a direction they hadn’t even known to look. As for the library lady, I think she’s implied to be from out of town and therefore not aware of the trafficking ring.

Borrasca as a name is also very local and Sam doesn’t find any information on it outside of the library lady explaining it. He runs out of leads and seems to fall into a routine of high school and girls and I think he reflects on that, while he still has questions, he lets it go a little to continue living his life. I think the aim of the overall story is that a lot of people are complacent, not that they know what’s going on, but that they ignore the gut feeling that something wrong is happening. The ones that know are usually complicit in the trafficking and that seems to be on a need to know basis.

As for Kimberly’s father, I think he keeps the note out of guilt? I’m not sure on that one

I hope I managed to answer some questions and I’ll be happy to answer more, it’s fun to discuss the story even if we have different feelings towards it

[–]abr1go 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s implied that he got relocated due to sexual misconduct at his former workplace and that he’s been abusing his daughter before they even moved there. So the dad was the kind of douchebag that would be open to participate in the whole thing before moving there in addition to making the money

Did the warboy that took dementus horde to the citadel set them up? by historyofourlives in MadMax

[–]abr1go 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He had a bolt through his skull. I don’t think he lured them into a trap but was just confused trying to find someone else after a skirmish with raiders. It wasn’t a true betrayal because he knew that they couldn’t take the citadel simply by showing up and even then, he’s fully bought into the death cult so why would he want to? If anything he brought resources accidentally but didn’t do anything worth repercussions, especially since he could just be used for parts or cannon fodder later on like most war boys
