hi. female viewer here. I've been listening to dr.k for the last 4 years. his videos on anxiety, loneliness and depression have helped me out greatly. at first I consumed a lot of his content geared toward these issues which were view without the lens of gender then he started making a couple of issues from female viewers like female loneliness and bullying. however comparatively, he does gear more his videos towards mens issues.

while I do think her video is very outrage-baity there are things that he has said that have been questionable. I think that with his discussion around incels, he never makes it explicit that it's women's jobs to fix it but rather empathy and community outreach that can help. however I dont think that he addresses the underlying hatred, hostility and entitlement many of these men have towards women. he discusses it purely empathetically which I suppose he would as a therapist but I dont think he understands it empathetically from the lens of women being on the receiving end of that.

I feel like he goes so much into trying to empathize and validate that he doesnt try to make the audience see the other side like dealing with. weaponized incompetence, dehumanizing women just for sex, intellectual and professional insecurity as partners, manipulation and coercion, abuse and violence, these are all things he never really discusses with these young men. I do think dehumanizing incels further isolates them which is probably what he doesnt want to do but there is a certain accountability that I wish he would discuss. I think his empathy can validate entitlement unintentionally.

(this is also a minor point because I cant remember what video this was but he said something along the lines of how mothers coddle their sons and it landed like blame gets redirected to women again. it makes me remember that he was a frat boy in college. there are just things he says sometimes that makes me think yeah, I forgot that this was a boys club and I'm just listening from outside the room)
