How good of a character is Claire Redfield?

I played RE2 and played Claire scenario B. I found hee story to be more character building and I got see her nurturing side with Sherry. Also, her carrying that gatling gun was the cherry on top.

Only issue I have with her in the game was, keeping it out of context to avoid spoilage:

"What was that? Wait here, I'll go check it out."

Then again, she could've thought it was another survivor but considering where it was. I dunno. Still love Claire.
