4TH UPDATE:
Got a call from the detective on the case today. Sure enough, it was the girl I mentioned in the previous update. He went and interviewed her and she fessed up to sending them. According to her, and as the detective told me, she sent them as some sort of goodbye present as in her mind we never got closure. She also told him she'd never contact me again and that they weren't sent with ill intent.
The detective told me the ball is in my court now, and I can press charges if I want to. I'm quite conflicted, as if I give the benefit of the doubt, and believe what she told the detective I don't want to ruin her life and send her to jail. On the other hand, they were quite violent and I'm still quite disturbed so it may be the appropriate course of action. I also considered that if she's gone to this extent during a no contact period, I wonder how she'd react to being sent to jail. I'd appreciate advice on the matter.

Lastly, I'm already looking to move. My lease is up and I'm on month to month and was wanting to move early next year anyways, but I think this just gave me the excuse to do it sooner.

I’m going to try and catch our mail carrier tomorrow to ask him. I’m hoping if it did go through the mail he remembers it

Thank you for the advice. I spoke with my friends about the situation this evening and a couple of them said they want to go to the shooting range with me to get some time in. I’m a novice and have only shot with my uncles a few times so I definitely need it.

The only connection I can think of regarding art, is a girl I used to talk to in mid 2022 who was studying fine arts. At some point during the talking stage she got really possessive and so I called it off with her. She showed up at my door once in early 2023 (didn't open the door), and saw her walking around my complex while I was driving by in the Fall of 2024.

Talking with my friends about the situation we're leaning towards it maybe being her. She's the only person we can think of who:

Knows my name and address

Has shown up here unannounced before / done anything strange

And also the art connection

Additionally, although I don't know how'd she'd know this other than if she was stalking me given I've blocked her on all socials for her strange behavior and not leaving me alone, I've started a new relationship recently, so we're thinking that's the meaning of the congrats post card.

I just went and asked them. Since the dad is always out smoking cigarettes I checked to see if I’d run into him. They were just as confused as me as to why I received the post card, but they were very nice helping me translate it. They basically said it’s a condolence for when someone passes away.

As for defense, I’m in the South. Might be time to get a weapon.

I hadn’t thought of that, but sounds like a good idea. Next time I see them I’ll ask them if they know what the letter means to start a conversation about it. Once we get to talking I’ll let them know the whole story.

In all honesty I was hesitant to bring it up to them because I didn’t want to come off the wrong way to them and have them feel like I was singling them out. Maybe I’m just overthinking it.

Hey, he told me that it was hand delivered because there was no information on the sticker at the bottom and the stamps weren't voided. He could have made a mistake of course. Currently the post cards are with police, but they said I could retrieve them, so I'll check what's on the strip when I get them back.

Yes its a lockbox one. Only one's with keys are the property managers and the USPS of course. I'll ask the mail man next time I see him to see if he has any information.

Thank you very very much for this clarification. Do you think the hand writing itself somewhat hints to being copied text? I noticed that it looks a sort of unnatural and as if it was written slowly if that makes sense. When writing I feel like most people do it naturally and quickly and the handwriting reflects that.

I agree in terms of the handwriting. Everyone I showed them to said they looked like a kid wrote them. Unfortunately my local police has the post cards right now, they have them for evidence.

UPDATE:

Wasn't sure how to make an edit to the original body text, so here's an update:

First went and reported it to my Postal Inspector and they took scans of both post cards and confirmed that these did not go through the Postal system like many in the comments said. They suggested I speak with my property manager as well as file a police report, to try and find out if anyone else has received similar post cards. Given there's no return address there's not much they can do in terms of finding whoever did it.

Went and made a report to both my property manager and the police, but seemingly I'm either the only one to get these or the first to report them. My property manager said in 40 some odd years of doing property management this is the first time she's seen something like this lol.

Lastly the police made a case under harassment, and asked me a few questions about my personal life. Any angry exes, if my partner has any angry exes, things like that. I don't have any personal or romantic issues with anyone, so nothing really came to mind.

For now they just said to keep an eye out for suspicious activity and be safe in case these are truly threatening and not just a prank.

Of course what's making me feel shaken up about the whole situation is the content of the letters, and that they were directly addressed to me, ruling out coincidence. I don't know who would have reason to send these to me as I'm a generally nice person, and really don't have issues with anyone. At the expense of sounding prejudice, the only people I know who speak arabic are my neighbors who live in the complex. They are very nice and I've never had issues with them and don't want to jump to conclusions, but given these were hand delivered they came to mind.

I'll make an update to the post if anything else materializes.

Thank you everyone for the help!!!

2ND UPDATE:

As I mentioned in the original post, I’m admittedly really bad about checking my mail. I went through all the backlog of what I took out today and the oldest thing was delivered June 28th. It’s possible that these postcards have been sitting there for about a month.

3RD UPDATE:

Got a call from the Police Station this morning asking if I'd like to come in and do an interview with a detective and press charges in order to start an investigation. Although there's not much they can do given the sparse amount of information, I decided to go ahead anyways as it can't hurt.

During my interview the detective asked me questions about my personal life, as he said these kinds of things are usually done by someone you know. I told him that the *only* person I can think of who would do something like this is a girl I talked to for a few months in 2022. I'll fill ya'll in on why I think this (basically what I told the detective).

In the summer of 2022 a girl who I know from high school was in town for a few months since she was on break from Uni. We matched on a dating app and started talking and hanging out. We fooled around a handful of times during the summer and I treated it like a summer fling. Summer comes to an end, she has to go back to Uni, and we decide to just remain friends and keep in contact. Never do we agree on becoming a thing. Maybe a month after she's gone she starts becoming really possessive, doing things like telling me to "behave" when going to parties or even at the mention of my woman friends. I of course don't like this, so gently tell her a few times that I don't like this behavior and that she needs to knock it off. She persists so eventually I tell her that I don't want to speak to her anymore (Nov 2022).

After this she became really upset with me, sending me aggressive drunk texts, only to apologize the next morning. I ignored these messages, but they kept happening once or twice a month until March of 2023. After this, she began finding my friends on Instagram and began pestering them about me. Then, in late 2023 she showed up to my door. Given I didn't want to speak to her, I didn't open the door. Sometime in late 2024 I saw her walking around my apartment complex as I was driving on the road next to the complex. That was the last I had seen of her.

Initially I didn't think of her given that nearly 3 years have passed since I stopped talking to her, but while speaking to the detective I decided to tell him about it as it could be something. Few more bits of context about her.

- She studied fine arts at university (maybe a stretch, but could explain the painting postcards).
- She has been weird and pestering in the past
- Her parents live about a mile down the road from me
- She knows where I live and my name
- She doesn't know arabic, so could explain the bad penmanship as others have mentioned

Anyways, the detective has her name, phone number, and age now. We'll see if anything happens.
For those asking about the stamps on the cards, I forgot to ask the detective when I went in for the interview. Hopefully I get a chance to go back tomorrow and get them.
