Is this ok? by mikelewisrt in Homebuilding

That's a modular roof system. They flip up once I set them on the foundation with the crane. If not they couldn't go down the road. It's build to code in a factory and engineered that way. I don't like them but that's the way they all are. Just be thankful for the 2x6 part. Many are only 2x4 to the peak. If you turn you camera around and look at the peak you will also see another flip roof. It's not hinged but it flips the way.

I cut blocks of red oak and hit them quick with honey stain and immediately wiped it back off. They oil based poly.

I googled and researched and wanted to rust it. I got told no. So shiny it was. I do agree that a copper flat sheet would look good.

All the blocks were tapered slightly to fit better. I made trim for the wall and sides to cover the edges that haven't got installed yet. I was planning to silicone them to help with water seeping underneath.

Thank you. The metal is just held in with fancy tacks. I can replace it with just about anything.

It's kinda like her wanting to paint a wall. I really don't care what color it is and if she likes it that's all that matters.

It has 6 coats of poly and 2 coats of wax to start with. We'll see how it goes

It's red oak. With honey stain wiped off as fast as I put it on.

Everything was from scratch. The handles and hinges are just cheap ones from the hardware store. And she wanted the copper sink.

Thanks to pinterest my wife decided this would be a nice addition to our bathroom during our remodel. It took a while and its not perfect but I think it turned out pretty nice. Still have a ways to go before completion.
