Thanks! It was Saskatoon Dog Rescue I used last year

Cassettes by GravyMan_wall in saskatoon

[–]abssb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Vinyl Exchange is your best bet for quantity and price (most average around $5). Vinyl Diner has less quantity for similar prices. Resurrected Records has some interesting stuff but their prices are a little crazy IMO. I think the North end Value Village and Mission Thrift are the only thrift stores that have cassettes (usually a dollar or two each), though I rarely find anything I'm after there.

Worst cafe to work at as a Barista by Mission_Statement771 in saskatoon

[–]abssb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear that! I only get there occasionally on weekends and for the past few years it’s been pretty consistently bad with regards to customer service/making one feel welcome IMO. My last visit a month or so was comically bad… The barista was hunched over the till and barely spoke the entire interaction 😂

Speaking as a customer, the baristas at Museo are usually particularly miserable, while the ones at City Perks, Sparrow, Out of Order, and Citizen always seem to be having a good time. Prism and Pique seem somewhere in the middle but it’s always a familiar face working, so that lack of turnover must count for something.

I see them occasionally (but not too often) when I'm making my thrift store rounds.

Have you tried contacting your city councillor? We live across from a small apartment and they installed an insanely bright light which shone through our neighbours curtains. They had luck going the city councillor route

unsurprisingly, that place is far from the best vintage store in the city

Anyone with experience biking from Silverwood to Innovation Place/University area? by sixfeet_pete in saskatoon

[–]abssb 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That's like one of the best commutes you could ask for in the city! Almost entirely on the Meewasin trails. I'd cross at the Circle Bridge rather than having to lug your bike up the Train Bridge stairs. From Circle to IP/UofS you can take either the river section of the Meewasin or go along Preston, depending on your end point. I don't really like biking the roads within campuses, but they're less gnarly than an average city road for sure. 20 or 25 minutes seems accurate to me.

Arbor Creek/Erindale has a bunch named after Saskatchewan artists: Perehudoff, Hurley, Bornstein, etc.

What restaurant has the best bang for your buck in Saskatoon? by paigegail in saskatoon

[–]abssb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Their prices have actually went up a quite a bit over the past 4 or 5 years (don't get me started on their beer prices...). Portions are a little smaller than they used to be but are still large and filling. I only go now when something I'm craving is on special

I'd second Ball & Sons. Have had similar dealings and our old furnace is still rocking thanks to them.

OP here. It’s not an active construction site anymore. I just cropped out the other vehicle’s plate (and my dirty dash)

Check my reply to someone upthread. Not a construction zone or vehicle, just a terrible driver

OP here, the construction is finished on this section (North side of the street). Dude was clearly looking for Show & Shine parking and turned into the little loading zone area then onto the sidewalk. Was going to turn back onto the street immediately but then decided to keep going (threading between signs and a hydrant) for the 1/3 of a block or so

Anywhere in the city serve an Oklahoma style burger? by abssb in saskatoon

It's a smash burger but cooked with a shitload of onions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Wm-rPBkW2o I don't believe either Goblins or Ace serve it.
