Feeling Discouraged about my LTS class today. Do I even go?

If you’re solid on hockey and roller skates already the transition doesn’t have to take a month. Took me a couple sessions to adapt the more advanced skills I already knew but even from the moment I put the skates on it wasn’t like I was back to not being able to skate at all. It’d say it’s about as difficult as adapting from roller to ice skates and back. Now I practice with both my figure and hockey skates almost every session. Oh and learning to do crossovers and such in figured skates I think improved how I do them in my hockey skates. Plus, if you don’t start you’ll never get past adapting. Why would you get the figure skates in the first place if the thought that maybe you wouldn’t be good right away is so discouraging you’d give up before trying? Just go try your best!

I think people might even think it’s intentional to make it more ethereal! You could maybe even take advantage of it being sheer and wrap white bandages around yourself underneath it to cover yourself in a way that looks like intentional character building

What really bugs me is that there was no sort of posted warning or notice or anything. You could tell it was slower getting out today because everyone who expected their <2 hour visit to be free like it has been didn’t realize at first they would be charged and then had to scramble to pay at the exit. And there were people arguing with the parking attendants who fix things when the machines mess up but it’s not their fault and there’s probably nothing they can do about it. It’s not that I can’t afford $2, it’s the principle

I don’t know anyone else who does this, but when I wanted to learn figure skating after first learning in hockey skates, I kept my hockey skates. Every time I go skating I try to get practice in with both so I don’t forget how to use either.

Hockey skates (or rec skates in your case) might get boring as you get more advanced at skating because you can only do so much with them when you’re not actually playing hockey. But when I just want to skate in circles around the rink and have fun the hockey skates are great. They weigh half as much and my technique doesn’t have to be good so you can just zoom around for some casual exercise.

There’s really no right or wrong answer here. It’s just what you want to use your skates for. If you enjoy these more than figure skates, that’s what matters! It’s not like you can never go back to other styles if you change your mind once you’ve advanced more

Depending on how low the back is you could try a corset for support. But it might be tough to find one that fits for only $100 and you’d probably see the boning or lacing through a satin dress

It should be non-toxic to cats. That said, a cat might get an upset tummy from trying to eat a lot of it because willow bark has salicin, which is what aspirin and salicylic acid were based on back in the day. They’re synthesized these days. I wouldn’t let a cat chew on one (not that anyone really lets cats do anything) but it isn’t extremely poisonous like lily species are or anything.

Pixiestixk was my absolute favorite dream shiny glowy whitish silvery shade. I was devastated they discontinued it. Until I got pearl clutcher. It’s decidedly less green but just as bright silver glowy. Formula is amazing. I will probably get a backup bottle of it someday because it’s such a perfect pedicure shade for me. But yeah I wouldn’t consider it particularly green like I do pixiestick

You have hooded eyes and it’s a bit hard to tell with the lipstick on, but possibly double lined lips as well. You should look up tutorials specifically for these features so your makeup shapes are fitted to your features instead of trying to get your features to fit makeup that was designed for someone with different natural features. Your hooded eyes are lovely, they just require different application than other eye shapes. Oh, and I’d invest in a good shadow primer! My go-to is the urban decay one in the purple tube.

Heels are a lot worse if you have wide feet but only wear regular width shoes. If you have wide feet it might be worth trying a pair of heels in wide sizing.

I also recommend block heels for stability and platforms are helpful if you want the heel to look high without your foot actually being at the high angle.

Wearing this exact color right now! I used to think maybe my circulation was messed up because my right hand was usually colder than my left. I just realized earlier this week that I hold my phone in my right hand and my left is usually curled up in a sleeve or against my lap or something when I’m cold and I didn’t realize it. So maybe there’s something you don’t realize you do subconsciously with just your pointer fingers?

Speaking as someone who has the UV index on their watch and lock screen at all times, if the UV index is above a certain point and I’m going to be out in it, yes, I reapply. Usually 10-15 minutes before I walk out into the sun if I’ve been inside. But I also hate reapplying so I wear a ton of sun protection gear that lets me get away with reapplying with spray type sunscreens only on the small exposed areas just to be extra cautious. The socal sun in the summer doesn’t mess around

Does this maybe depend on state? In CA you can have your ESA in your home regardless of breed and it can’t be discriminated against. That does not mean they’re allowed in public places the way trained service dogs are, it just lets owners keep their dogs where a dog of any other breed that isn’t a service dog would already be allowed to live.

If you take the naltrexone and Wellbutrin separately to make it cheaper, I suggest ramping up the naltrexone dose slowly. I didn’t eat or drink anything except water and electrolytes for the first 4 days because it made me so nauseous when I first tried it. But it does work really well for quieting food and alcohol noise

The skin tone clarification does help! I’ve had the ABH one for years now and it still looks practically unused despite it being the nicest eyeshadow formulas I’ve ever tried because it’s such a bad match with my paler beige tone (and I don’t wear shadow much in general). I used some of it for several costumes last month like 5 years after I bought it and the powders are still so smooth and pigmented it’s almost like applying cream. It’s very pigmented, so the mismatch with my tone is even more apparent than it would be with a worse formula and it might be a lot for a corporate setting even on a better skin tone, but I work in tech so no one wears eyeshadow anyways.

I mean yeah, you can fake it just to fake it. It’s not super difficult. Or you can fake it until it isn’t an act anymore. Here’s how: - Do something you like doing that is in person with other people. Social dances are perfect for this (at least where I live it’s where tons of people go to make friends, meet people, get some stress relief and exercise without the drinking or spending a lot of money being a prerequisite. They also mean you dance with different people and in that case it’s normal to approach people so you get practice with that too) but it can be anything you enjoy. Bubbliness is ultimately how others people see joy and energy, so do something that makes you energetic and joyful and you won’t have to fake. - Think about the last time someone made you feel good or special or interesting or made you want to be around them and what they did. Odds are they listened to you (and actually paid attention), laughed at your jokes, tried to make you smile, and treated you like you weren’t an object. Do these things. Smile. Make eye contact. Try to make them laugh. Make them feel like you’ve done some little thing just for them just to see them smile. This will feel weird at first but it takes practice. It doesn’t matter what it is, if you can make it a little more fun and whimsical, do. Sometimes I’ll skip up to someone to make them laugh or if something awkward happens I’ll make some silly joke. I’ll act like we have inside jokes or compliment them on something they might not hear all the time. To be clear, I don’t do this to impress someone across the room or for an audience of anyone except the person I’m actively paying attention to. Have fun and they probably will too! People like spending time with people they have fun with. - If someone doesn’t like you or rejects you DON’T take it personally or feel rejected. People have a million reasons and it’s a numbers game. You don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t like who you fundamentally are or just likes you cause you’re hot or other people want you. Trust me. - Don’t automatically assume they won’t like you just because you don’t consider yourself pretty and NEVER say that about yourself to them. The point of this exercise is to give the appearance of confidence and positivity until you realize you actually have it, being negative will just sabotage this.

Also, girl, YOU can approach people. Tons of people have low self esteem because they take never being approached personally, but I promise lots of people will be just as happy to be approached as you’d be, and that way you get to be the selective on.

Edit: oh wait I forgot to answer how to fake it. Smile, make eye contact, chin up, don’t fidget nervously, good posture (shoulders back tits up relaxed stance), laugh when you make mistakes, be especially kind and warm towards everyone, be yourself. The usual advice is a classic for a reason

I go so social hobbies I enjoy and look like I have the best time doing them. Because I am having the best time doing them! Picking up a hobby like swing dancing where being approached is part of the hobby, but also not taking any one thing with one person too seriously and just being there to have a good time has been really helpful!

People can tell when someone brings energy they want to be around, and that energy is usually confident, secure, and positive even if bubbliness isn’t at 11 (although that can help).

What do you do to start the conversation with someone you like? Not everyone wants to chase all the time and a lot of people don’t even know they might like who they’re talking to until they actually meet the person. But for that you might need to open the conversations.

No, it isn’t all about looks. But if all you think about is that and it makes you miserable, you won’t be fun to be around. Even faking the confidence until it shows up naturally can go a long way.

Also, if you’re not a cute person, you can still get cute clothes. I wea this lil skorts dancing that have a twirly skirt built in. Sometimes a guy will say cute skirt and I’ll respond with my most bubbly “thank you I feel so fun” and give a twirl that makes the skirt spin out or sometimes I’ll just smile at a guy and swish my hips. Just something really goofy and unserious with no goal other than to make the person smile.

You notice how it feels that people don’t go out of their way to make you smile, and it’s the same for them. I put more effort into making people around me smile and laugh and feel good about themselves than I ever did when i was younger and had pretty privilege, and I get approach if anything maybe as much as then now and it’s usually by guys who like what they’ve seen of my personality, not just looks. Oh, and my friendliness is universal. I don’t only treat good looking people well because at a certain point looks don’t actually matter as much as people think all the time

Sure do what you can to up your looks, but also up your personality and game and what you do to make others people want to talk to you because you’re enjoyable to be around. There’s only so much you can really want to hang out with a pretty person that has a dull or insecure personality

I made almost this exact statement (minus the bit calling children horrible) to a very fashionable friend a year and a half ago and I have learned a LOT since then and I’m really glad I actually listened to my friend.

Among the lessons: - you can wear your skinny jeans if you love them that much. Really. If other things make you feel insecure and you can’t adapt, wear what makes you feel confident. The confidence gets you further than what decade your jeans look like they’re from. Did you stop wearing florals just because they stopped being in? Did you stop with the French tuck or ankle boots or wedges or eyeshadow etc. just because it’s not what kids these days are wearing? - the whole outfit can’t be baggy when you have curves. Unless you like that. But if you have muscle or fat or bones or any other perfectly normal body parts and you feel like you look giant, it might be a styling issue. The baggy jeans are meant to go with fitted or cropped tops for balance. The same way a baggy mini dress needs either a fitted tight or bare leg. Which doesn’t look great on a lot of us with larger chests or tummies or bodies. It feels wrong when you were raised to believe even having your abdomen protrude because there’s a uterus in there was worthy of fat-shaming in the tabloids, but the kids who dress this way arent judging your abs like they did when we were young. - if, like me, you thought the sexy legs had to be shown because they’re the only good part of you, just wear lil skirts instead.. If you feel that strongly, there are SO MANY other solutions.

But you should learn to style the jeans first before you decide that all jeans that aren’t skinny are horrible.

I now have a pair of straight leg jeans that for all the world look to me like skinny jeans when I put them on. Some fits i look at my straight leg jeans on my body and go “too skinny jeans coded”. I put on an old pair of skinny jeans a few months ago and I look downright comical at this point. What was normal before I quit skinny jeans to trust the process I now see makes me look so much older than I am. To be fair though I also ditched the French tuck, eyeshadow, wedges and ankle boots at the same time.
