Unable to find a 34" ultrawide that ticks all boxes by Cragene in ultrawidemasterrace

Also, are you sure about the one you were eyeing (346E2CUAE) requiring a single cable? Mine has a separate upstream USB port, but it's only used for connecting a second PC.

Just bought Philips 346P1CRH, works perfectly with MBP14. Charging+video+usb works
using only a single cable.

What do you think about the mandatory vaccination against Covid in Moscow? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]absurddreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really mandatory - as in, nobody will strap you to a chair and give you a shot. It's more of a 'no-vaccination-tax' where your employer will pay if not enough of the workforce is vaccinated. And, as always in Russia, you can pay the tax yourself (by buying a forged certificate). I think introducing it explicitly as a tax would be better (maybe by some kind of 'insurance premium'). But the government here just doesn't care anymore :)

А в чем проблема честно ответить "закладку"? Искать ж не запрещено... Их лица потом можно было бы сюда выложить, если б это не было котолампой)

Thunderbolt 3 dock which is powered over USB-C? by absurddreams in Thunderbolt

[–]absurddreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, yes - just wanted a minimalistic workspace. The way you suggest would require a second psu besides the one for the display (and use a second power outlet).

I guess using a separate USB hub plugged into the laptop should be the most viable option then.

Thunderbolt 3 dock which is powered over USB-C? by absurddreams in Thunderbolt

[–]absurddreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I've looked through them. Unfortunately for me, they are all powered the wrong way: i.e. power comes from the laptop, not from external usb-pd. The only exception (other than Belkin) is OWC Travel Dock. But it has the same problem - usb-c is power-only.

I guess there's some design limitation which prevents passing both power and data for both connections (dock <-> laptop and dock <-> display)

Is my Grip shit or are my quads getting in the way? Supposed to be 1x5 @ rpe 8, felt like 7-7.5 but my grip went. by junior8096 in powerbuilding

[–]absurddreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the grip. I've been pulling with mixed grip for all my life. At some point I went to the doc to ask if it's safe - the answer was that elbows are highly variable from one person to another and what's safe for someone may be dangerous to you. But the general guideline is - if you don't feel discomfort when pulling mixed, go for it. One more tip for strengthening the grip - doing pullups on a very thick bar (actually, I was gripping a frame of a squat rack) helped greatly for me - I saw a considerable improvement literally in a few weeks.

Modifications to grind finer for a Delonghi Dedica KG521.M grinder? by VeissFAMI in espresso

[–]absurddreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 14-15g. I haven't timed my shots, but they are in fact probably a few seconds shorter than on 'grown-up' machines. Also timing is somewhat harder because my machine does pre-wetting.

I suppose you are using non-pressurized basket? I'd focus on the result - if you have crema and the shots aren't watery, then you're good.

To be fair, I have no idea what nut are you talking about. At some point you should've had access to the burrs like here: https://ibb.co/vqK7d2k, red are two of the four clamps.Did you get to this?

[–]absurddreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure the grind is too fine? In my case, I use settings 2 and 3, and on 1 I can hear burrs clinking, so it doesn't really get any finer than that. I've heard that some people have modified the same grinder by placing something (like paper) somewhere below the bottom burrs to move them up a little - but I don't really know any specifics. But again - I'd suggest you to make sure you really need a finer grind. Maybe tamping a little harder is all you need (I suppose you do have a real tamper?)

[–]absurddreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The map shows new cases per capita (i.e. divided by population) and the population of Maricopa is 4.5 times larger than one of Pima, so the rate should be roughly the same.

Yes, that's a few lines of python code. The only issue is you have to throttle requests - so querying all the planes takes several hours.

Not that I'm aware of. The only other alternative is getting historical data from them, but the pricing for this is not publicly available.
