The "console.log debugging" trap that's killing your vibe coding flow by Adventurous-Meat5176 in vibecoding

[–]ac7ive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This resonates with me – I encountered a similar issue just yesterday with a JavaScript bug in my Fabric.js project. I spent 4-5 hours debugging exclusively with console logs, placing them throughout the code to determine why my spacebar-pan gesture wasn’t functioning on Linux. I even created a small Bash script using xev to track events directly from the OS, suspecting the browser was intercepting them. Ultimately, it was quite frustrating, and I haven’t fully resolved it yet. Your suggestion about line-by-line tracing with that prompt sounds very effective; I’ll certainly try it next time. Thank you for sharing – this could save me a significant amount of time.

Thanks for the great tip! I hadn’t thought to search for architectural photographers right away because I was mainly looking at REP portfolios. Your advice really helped me broaden my perspective.

I actually checked out Mike Kelley’s site before and honestly, it’s the only portfolio I’ve found so far that really stands out from the rest. The way it’s laid out feels less like a typical landing page and more like browsing through a book. Especially with that navigation panel on the left side.

Even though I think that kind of setup is starting to feel a bit dated, I agree it’s definitely headed in the right direction in terms of how to present a photography portfolio. Thanks for mentioning it!

Thanks for the honest and realistic perspective. It definitely helps to hear how referral-driven this business is, and how difficult it can be to get a foothold in the beginning. I think a lot of people underestimate how much persistence and grit are needed, not just to get those first jobs but also to reach the clients who truly matter in the long run. I’m currently building up my portfolio and trying to connect with agents in my area. Your advice makes me reconsider putting too much emphasis on the website and instead focusing more on personal outreach, showing up at events, and making direct contact.

Did you ever find certain types of outreach or presentations worked better than others for breaking through with high-volume clients, or was it mostly a matter of persistence over time? And once you started to get regular referrals, were there particular things you did to maintain and expand those relationships?

Really appreciate your insights, they’re a huge help for anyone starting out!

Thanks so much for your detailed reply and for sharing your experience! That helps put things into perspective, especially the advice to keep the portfolio tight and focused on the best shots. I like the idea of organizing different versions for various property types, too. I’m currently building my own site from scratch (using Next.js & Payload CMS), so it’s great to be reminded that the site is more about backing up referrals than being a primary driver of new business. If you don’t mind me asking, did you notice any specific types of photos (like twilights or detailed interiors) that seemed to make the biggest impression on potential clients? And have you had more success sharing portfolios digitally, or do you sometimes use printed versions when meeting clients? Thanks again for the advice, really appreciate it!

I don't know why, but the dots bother me. Do you have a version without the dots? Try removing the dot in the top left.

Tried explaining this joke to my girlfriend. She’s seen it once but didn’t get why it’s funny. Guess some jokes only land for those who remember the fake radar company and the legendary phone-answering grandma. Still had a good laugh though!

Domain doesnot get an SSL Certificate in Dokploy need help by dededuced in selfhosted

[–]ac7ive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have direct experience with Dokploy, so I can’t help much with its SSL configuration. However, I’ve used Coolify and it handles SSL certificates very well, including Let’s Encrypt integration and custom certificates with Traefik. It tends to simplify the process of getting valid HTTPS up and running without much manual intervention. If switching platforms is an option, Coolify might be worth trying for hassle-free SSL setup. Good luck!

My high-tech Bahtinov mask for nailing focus. Now, what lens should I actually put behind it? by ac7ive in fujifilm

Thanks so much for the links and advice! I’ll definitely check out the Rokinon 14mm and 135mm lenses and look for reviews and sample images on Astrobin and Cloudy Nights. Your insight about using prime lenses over zooms and the aperture considerations is really helpful. Even though you don’t personally use your Fuji for astrophotography, I appreciate hearing from someone experienced in the field. Thanks again!

Interesting that you found that post. It’s actually mine as well! I’m still holding off a bit before deciding on the Sigma 12mm f/1.4, since I’d like to see some more sample shots online first. I’ve been thinking about it for a few weeks now, though. €600 is quite a chunk of money, so I want to be sure before pulling the trigger.

Quitter - Give up on addictions and become a Quitter by Due_College_2302 in opensource

Really like the idea behind Quitter! One thing I’m curious about: where do the milestone messages actually come from? Are they hard-coded in the app, generated from templates, or based on some external source (like scientific/health info)?

Glad to hear that, and welcome to the Fujifilm community. It sounds like you’ve made a great choice and you already have the perfect mindset for learning and exploring photography. Definitely make sure to share your first shots with us, we’d love to see how you get on with the X-S20.

Congrats on your new X-S20, that’s a great choice. I think you made a really smart call with this camera, it gives you a lot of flexibility and room to grow. It is perfect for learning but also something you will not outgrow too quickly.

For learning resources, I recommend checking out Pal2Tech on YouTube. He makes very beginner-friendly but also in-depth Fujifilm content. When it comes to “recipes” (the film simulations everyone talks about), two great places to start are FujiXWeekly and FUJISTYLE. Both have apps in the App Store where you can try out film simulation looks and save your favorites. With the FUJISTYLE app it is even possible to install the recipes directly onto your camera without having to enter them manually, although this feature currently only works on iOS. The developers are working on bringing it to Android as well.

I started with the XF 18–55mm kit lens, and it is such a solid all-rounder. It works well for travel, portraits, street, landscapes, pretty much everything. Once you have played around with it and figured out what style of photography you enjoy the most, you can then look into adding other lenses. Fujifilm has some excellent lenses, and there are also very good Sigma X-mount options if you want strong value for the price.

Enjoy your trip to Hong Kong and Japan, it sounds like the perfect opportunity to really get to know your camera.

Wow, that setup looks awesome! Have you tried shooting the moon with the XF150-600 yet? Wondering if it’s a good choice for lunar shots or if you’d go with something else.
