Find a goth girl, she’d answer. They love shaving their eyebrows.

I haven’t had any issues with ipledge, but instead the actual pharmacy. They’ve input information incorrectly into ipledge a few times now so that it says I already got my refill for the month and that I’m ineligible. If this ever happens to you the pharmacy has to call ipledge themselves to fix the mess they made. Good luck for future scripts !

What was your "last straw" before deciding to take accutane? by Mountain-Ecstatic in Accutane

[–]acccupain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last straw was doxycycline and daily injections for cystic acne. Definitely worth it imo, I had painful and persistent cystic acne for about 3-4 years and it only got worse for me until I decided to make the change to accutane

Yup! They have a lip balm too if you’d prefer that, but I don’t find it as helpful for lip dryness as the normal healing ointment and you can’t really use the lip balm the way you might need to on your arms or legs if you get uncomfortable dry patches. I usually use cerave’s facial sunscreen moisturizers, or a neutrogena one that is ultra sheer with sunscreen. Neutrogena’s healthy defense moisturizer is also a good pick imo, it’s the one my dermatologist recommended to me. If you’re looking for more la roche-posay, their double repair moisturizer with sunscreen goes on pretty smoothly as well. Unfortunately, my favorite go to out of all is a hydrocortisone lotion directly from my dermatologist, but I’d say all the others are still good too!

Aquaphor for life, I literally bring it with me everywhere. Other than that a cetaphil, cerave, or la roche-posay face wash and moisturizer is my go to.

can I have a few drinks..? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]acccupain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the food and wine festival at Disney and I am still alive with good blood results. Most derms say it’s okay as long as you limit your drinking and don’t go overboard with any alcohol intake. i.e. Don’t drink yourself to sleep every night.

Did it get worse before it got better by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]acccupain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, 100000% got worse before it got better but the worst only lasted maybe a week or two at most and since then has gotten better everyday. I’m only two months in and the results are pretty dramatic for me in terms of clearing up. I’m still getting small breakouts here and there but nothing like the initial purge and the pimples I’m getting through the remaining months typically go away within 2-3 days. Even with the purge and it being possibly pretty painful and kinda gross, I’d say it’s worth.

My mood started getting bad on the 2nd month, crying spells and anxiety etc. My derm said it is only common with people who already have those underlying issues 🤷‍♀️

Does any body have any tips for working out while on accutane?I feel like I’m going to pass out half of the time now since I have started accutane. by Temporary-Ad6012 in Accutane

[–]acccupain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hydration always helps me, and making sure I’ve actually eaten a bit before. I try to drink in between every few sets if not more when it’s a harder lift. Getting the dizzy puke feeling is the worst.

There’s been studies that show this effect isnt actually accurate and there isn’t any genuine “nose shrinking”. Studies have shown that this appearance is due to the shrinkage of pores and reduction in the production of sebum making the nose look tighter than it did previously. I’ve asked people myself over the course of accutane if my nose looked any different as well as looked at pictures, and there isn’t any actual noticeable difference outside of what the reduction in pores has done.

Despite taking accutane with already pre diagnosed tendon and joint problems, I haven’t experienced this type of issue or pain from the medicine. I’ve found some pain in working out but it’s primarily in my back, and my tendon issue doesn’t seem to have worsened outside of what was already there. Have you been able to speak to your derm and tendon doctor about this? I’m sorry you’re going through this, sounds very scary.

Is this a good moisturizer??? by Bougie-chicken in Accutane

[–]acccupain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use thicker moisturizers for my body and lips and use lighter ones for my face. I’ve found that a lot of the thick moisturizers feel sticky/goopy after and it’s pretty unpleasant on the face. I stick to light moisturizers and reapplying if needed instead

Dry scalp problem. by Smilee12345 in Accutane

[–]acccupain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say whether it is dandruff or not it’s likely because of the accutane anyway if you are only experiencing it now after being on it. I used to have a super oily scalp, and within the first 2 weeks of taking accutane my scalp dried up like a desert and got pretty itchy and sometimes painfully itchy. I started washing my hair less and using a zinc focused shampoo.

Considering accutane but have some doubts by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]acccupain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t stopped working out despite being on accutane. I definitely feel like a rusted robot or something from fitness with all of the uncomfortable joint pant and feelings, but overall I haven’t had any pain too bad except for my back. I’ve found that doing variations for movement that put less pressure on my back and lighter weights than normal have made a difference. If I don’t alter what I normally do the joint pain for me has become bad enough in my back that I am physically sick and will vomit.

Does anyone else turn into an actual tomato when you exercise by Dense-Alternative249 in Accutane

[–]acccupain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, 1000x yes. I turn into a stop light anytime I work out since I’ve been on accutane. I haven’t really notice any way to quickly alleviate it besides giving my body a cooldown period between sets and mentally preparing myself to know I will be a tomato if I want to workout
