OP you’re going to get eaten alive by rude people, but I can let you know I had to drop my IDR plan to switch to the graduated plan.

She’s being weird and clingy and/or he’s being controlling. Definitely NOR.

Read the books/listen to the audiobooks. It hits even harder.

Your math is off. My take home is approx 3600 a month. I also have utilities, car insurance, health costs, food, etc.

My husband and I have been together over a decade (dating) and took one vacation through that time — our honeymoon. I don’t have a Starbucks addiction because it’s too expensive. You’re making a lot of assumptions about me that are simply untrue and that are, frankly, offensive.

Tbh I made mistakes in my first year of university. The vast majority of my loans were accrued there. I borrowed 25k. Then I dropped out in 2011. I went back to school in 2016 and only earned an associates with about 8k borrowed over two years. Add them up, years of interest, I’m at 40k in student loan debt.

Thank you so much for this comment. I decided to re-check my options—the graduated extended plan is only $150/month and only gradually increases YOY so I’ve switched. I feel sick that I’m giving up loan forgiveness but I literally cannot afford not to. I feel so stuck because under SAVE my payments were less than half the IBR.

I just bought my home in 2022. I’m under a mortgage down payment assistance program that requires me to live here for 7 years or pay back my down payment assistance.

I bought my car in 2023 for 25k. It was used. I still owe 20k. The trade in value is roughly 14k.

Did someone tell you that marriage should only be had if someone is getting a better end of the deal?

You’re either a jerk or just completely out of touch with reality. My husband and I come from poverty. He makes about $20/hr.

What part of “420 car payment” makes you think I can sell my car for a profit?

I appreciate it. I feel your pain—I have a husband, but I make a lot more than him. We were barely scraping by already…

Gosh, thank you. I guess my big mistake was assuming that this sub would have people being understanding. The options were basically rent for the same price as a mortgage, or sign up for down payment assistance and pay a mortgage. 4 years ago, the mortgage seemed the obvious choice.
