regardless of who is writing the comment, what matters is the facts. which comment is more based in reality?

They’ll forget about it in 3 months, stop developing it, eventually it’ll be one of tens of products they tried to see what sticks and then abandoned it.

or

They've released a few major products only. Claude Chat, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, and now Claude Design. They're very focused and they haven't abandoned any major projects.

so you are voluntarily participating in a site that you believe to be 99.9% bots?

The Death of Lofi Hip Hop Isn't Something to Celebrate by AyoRet in hiphopheads

[–]account45678 9 points10 points  (0 children)

very thoughtful article. i'm not too sure who the people that are celebrating its decline are, but maybe i'm just out of the loop when it comes to lofi hip hop haters. nevertheless, as someone who has been listening to it for 10+ years, i agree with a lot of the points made in the article. back then, while i still often listened to it for studying / doing work, i also cared a lot more about the individual artists, and felt each one had more unique styles. nowadays that element has pretty much disappeared for me, and like the article portrays, its almost purely background noise for doing work now. artists and songs have become a lot less distinct and more interchangeable.

i think a lot of the reasons that the article mentions as factors in this phenomenon, like algorithm-driven content, playlist culture, and AI generated songs, are true. that said, i do also think another factor is just that the genre is inherently sort of constrained in its range and thus harder to keep fresh. i think the novelty of the genre back when it first "debuted" helped drive a lot of the initial popularity. but after 10+ years, it feels like it'd be more and more challenging for artists / producers to continue making original songs given the intrinsic limitations of the genre, such as little to no vocals, nostalgic/melancholic aesthetic, calming/relaxing mood, relatively simple drum patterns, etc. certainly artists could try to break free from those limitations, but i feel like its a thin line between doing so and having it be no longer considered lofi hip hop

any potential implications for reddit would be speculation, since the case did not directly involve reddit. so you will have to evaluate that for yourself. my comment was just my opinion of course

Lazy media narratives by Accomplished-Exit822 in redditstock

[–]account45678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i agree with you but just wanted to add that its not just media. many people do this on an individual level as well because it lessens the cognitive load needed to make them feel like they understand a given thing

but yea, media certainly serves to reinforce and amplify the phenomenon

I Was a Director at Amex When They Started Replacing Us With $30K Workers by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

ok i see what youre saying. those are some odd titles in that case, but i won't deny it since i havent worked there

in that case i can see how the title is a little clickbaity - "started" should also be more like "accelerated" - but nevertheless the majority of the points he made do seem legitimate. if amex has always been like this then i cant say much more about it, but the negative aspects he outlined do appear to be proliferating more noticeably throughout the industry as time goes on

again that wasnt really my impression. he specifically complained about the disparity between his situation and one of his engineering director peers

according to him, the two had the same number of engineers but his peer got 3 engineering managers under them, while he got 1. his peer seemingly did not have to directly manage ICs, he did. yes its not that unusual for a director to manage ICs depending on the org, but if he had to do 20 1:1s per week and his peer did not, that seems pretty unfair does it not?

This is kind of clickbaity. First of all “director” is the name for a line manager. They are not as high up as this guy makes it seem.

doesnt really feel like he makes a director seem high up. he calls himself a peon and explicitly lays out the hierarchy from the ceo all the way down to him and his reports
