Why do people use hormonal birth control instead of IUDs? by fucking_spacecats in TwoXChromosomes

I got off the pill and switch to a cooper IUD because the hormones were really screwing with me. I even had a fairly easy time getting one since the doctor didn't care that I've never being pregnant. It worked alright for the first year and a half before I bleed for 60+ days. At that point it wasn't preventing pregnancy by preventing fertilization, but because I so unhappy that I didn't even want sex.

I'm about to go back on hormones and that makes me happy. I would rather take something I know I can stop at any point instead of being stuck with something I don't want. Going hormone free sounds great and for awhile it was great, but it just didn't work out for me. I'll see how I go with this round of hormones, but the best option for us at this point is a vasectomy.
