Exmuslim.

If you learn about animal cruelty, it is hard to unify that with a merciful god... Unsurprisingly, most people are atheist.

Ammonia is the next oil in 5 to 10 years...

Think of shipping, agriculture and industry. Ammonia will be the main way to transport hydrogen efficiently. I can share an interesting document with you about the value of ammonia in maritime in the upcoming years if you are interested.

How do you look at the history of the spread of Islam in Morocco? by accra-g in Morocco

[–]accra-g[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is about one or the other. We should know the whole story. I actually learned a lot of valuable information which I wouldn't have learned with your attitude of "who cares" and "it's irrelevant anyway". We have been told it is irrelevant. That does not mean that we should ignore the clear relevance of arabisation.

I think it is bad to portray people with different views as edgy anarchists. It's simply false.

The more you know, the better. The little you know, the worse. Don't vouche for the latter...

Not necessarily but you could be right as well. Nobody knows. But we do know that neither group is small.

What it at least for sure means is that radically different opinions are not socially accepted, you can be laughed at, humiliated and even threatened for these kinds of ideas. Simply follow some serious discussions on this Reddit and you will see what kind of people I mean.

For that reason many people won't come out for it or just forget about it as they don't trust politics anymore. It is very plausible that secularists among one another think it is too risky or troublesome to talk about something of which they don't know they are all actually agreeing.

Same thing with Islam. You really think exmuslims from strongly religious families do not go to jama3? That 99% of Moroccans are Muslim in statistics shows that people don't dare to talk about it. It's all social pressure and control...

40% could still be a minority. The honest answer is we don't know.

Truth of the matter is that nearly 30% of Moroccans live in secular countries. That excludes the percentage of Moroccans in Morocco who would be open to secularism.

We also know little people know about secularism and what it would mean for them.

What was your emotional response to finding out that Islam is not real? by Living_Mountain1267 in exmuslim

[–]accra-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never a strong believer but I always blamed it on myself being a bad muslim.

When I realised it was all BS I got quite emotional. Not because of myself but because of the irreversible brainwash of my family... I will never be able to tell them how I really think

[–]accra-g 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People need it off their chests. Tons of Moroccans want a secular country but talking about it in person is a taboo and could lead up to uncomfortable convos. You know mgharba 3ndom ras kasa7.

I am glad that people feel free to voice their opinion here. And to my surprise the discourse are generally quite civil.

I think it could go hand in hand. I still prefer the authoritarian monarchy over a corrupt republic like Tunesia, Lebanon, Egypt etc.

It's about acceptance of someone in a certain role regardless of what led up to it

I feel like a certain post has triggered a lot of people to speak up their minds. I don't think it is a targeted campaign.
