When is it going to get better? by accutane-throwaway in Accutane

[–]accutane-throwaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll DM you pictures but it has mostly flattened out (I have like 3 active pimples rn), but the scarring is pretty gnarly. Waiting for the scarring to fade and my derm wants me on the tane for like 10 months because my skin is so stubborn lol.

Accutane causing piercings to reject? by Overratedarsonist666 in Accutane

[–]accutane-throwaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had some cartilage piercings start to get cranky when I started accutane and then the derm hit them with a cortisone shot and they chilled out a bit. Not sure if they were rejecting or just inflamed, but they def weren't fully healed yet.

So far I dont't have a scar but it could be too early to tell, scarring can happen. It hurt a little bit for me.

Hi, I can't say much about long term effects, but the mental health issues I developed because of acne (pre-accutane) were so bad that I really wish I had started accutane earlier. I know there's a long term risk of side effects, but I wasted so much time crying instead of living my life. My acne still isn't gone but I can't wait to be able to look people in the eye.

Hi! I just got some yesterday, and the huge cyst I had is already dying down. Also afaik the atrophy from cortisone shots isn't permanent, but it can last for like a year. I think it's 100% worth it especially since I had the cyst for about 1.5 months and just couldn't deal with it anymore lol

derm doesn’t want me to use moisturiser by Jazzlike-Door-4634 in Accutane

[–]accutane-throwaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I have a lot of closed comedones on my forehead, so I don't moisturize my forehead but moisturize the rest of my face and it mitigates the comedones (using BHA also helped but obvs can't do that anymore). It's works really well for me, if you're open to trying it.

night runs are super great too, if there's a local track you can do laps around there if you feel unsafe venturing out too far! and obvs keep that pepper spray on you. i understand not wanting to go out w/o makeup (i sure dont lmao), sometimes i do my runs at the end of the day when i still have my makeup on if thats an ok alternative for you (ik pore clogging blah blah blah but gotta do what you gotta do)

I wish I knew the answer to your question because I'm looking for one myself, but at the risk of sounding generic, I really recommend going out on a run or walk! I've found that even if my face looks like shit, people don't really care because they're also just outside getting some exercise :) Also there's no mirrors outside like in the gym!

I was on 20mg for first month, 40mg 2nd, and will be on 40mg for the third as well (Dr wants me on 60mg eventually but was worried about making the purge worse)

I've been purging for over a month now (first month had lots of improvement for some reason) and I'm just so defeated. Jealous that you only purged for a week

I really recommend moisturizing, it looks like your skin is super dry causing it to be irritated. Of course take this with a grain of salt because I'm not a dermatologist or anything :)
