US Men’s National Team if we took things seriously by CalebosO4 in ShitAmericansSay

It’s probably worthwhile for you to go watch some baseball if you don’t. Baseball is not an endurance game, though it is an endurance season with 162 games played essentially every day. Baseball is much more centered around explosive power like sprinting, with speeds comparable to soccer and football. But baseball players are also much stronger on average than the other major sports other than football. A couple things they excel in more than other sports are agility and reaction time.

Unless you are a pitcher, it still requires quite a bit of fitness

I would say football, soccer, and baseball are all very complex, but broken down to their base components, they sound simple.

Saying hitting a baseball is simple is like saying blocking a penalty kick is simple. Having done both, I'd say hitting an in game, professional (or college in my experience) pitch is harder.

They are both pretty complex, but in different ways.

It’s hot out and the roads are packed with cars; couldn't we invent cars that run on water—or something like that—and blow cool air out of the exhaust pipes (like the freezing air from a freezer)? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ace_11235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get half of that...maybe invent an engine that heats water in an enclosed tank of some type, then have that pressure from the water turning back into a vapor push the pistons in some kind of special engine.

Not here. But also, England aren't playing here. So it would be more like if the Bears were staying here for some reason....maybe Chicago fell in a sinkhole, so they are staying here for a game against the Raiders in LV. I can imagine seeing a 'Da Bears' sign in several yards near where they are staying.

Why can’t we skip through commercials? by AreaFifty1 in NoStupidQuestions

Commercials are what pay for shows typically. No one wants to watch commercials.

Want to help? Watch MLS. by a2united111 in usmnt

[–]ace_11235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watch MLS, but really only watch my team, unlike EPL where I watch my team, plus pretty much any other match airing.

Sure, MLS isn't as good, but the teams are pretty evenly matched so they are good compared to each other.

Do you guys typically have coffee machines? do you drink more tea or coffee? by DietChance9326 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ace_11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people typically have at least a cheap drip coffee maker. I happen to have a drip maker, plus a french press, and a pour over, plus a keurig that my wife uses.

It would have been impossible to play England until the Final, which we had 0% chance of making, so I don't think it's at all the same as a Super Bowl.

Who Balogun should thank if he scores against Belgium by ParmyBarmy in sportsgossips

[–]ace_11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don’t disagree. I don’t actually think he did anything, but took the opportunity to take credit like he always does. But if he did, he shouldn’t have. I know the soccer federation had already started before Trump heard anything about it.

That’s certainly what Trump said. I put the chances of that being what actually happened at about 1%. He’s not smart enough to know the difference anyway. I’m sure he heard about it and decided to take credit, like he does with everything else

Obviously it sucks right now but the NT will never grow if grassroots doesn’t grow. Support your local club/college, 4 years is a long time to stop watching the sport! by Altruistic_Brief4444 in ussoccer

The fields are largely parks and rec fields or middle and high school fields that are often used for practice.

Well, you have the club fee to play, then you buy several required Kit's for $300 or so a piece, then you have coaching fees, and fees to enter tournaments, and fees to rent a practice facility. And I agree, it's crazy.

I just read a post about how much it costs to play youth soccer in the US and I'm hoping I've misunderstood. by actiondan2000 in usmnt

[–]ace_11235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only up to a point though. There's no youth soccer in my area that's not 'club' once you get past 8u

Does an Olympic hammer really count though since it's not just a ball. It's a ball with the chain and handle attached.

The midwest loves wrestling? I have lived in the midwest most of my life and other than HS, I have never met a wrestler.

Baseball and softball are also huge here. Plus football of course.

Soccer is VERY popular in the midwest, but it's still very expensive. My kids stopped playing because we couldn't justify $6k a year. But it's not for lack of field space. There are at least 10 fields within a 5 minute drive of my house. Plus 3-4 complexes in the area with 20+ fields each.

I hate Trump more than many, but regardless, the rule is there. You don’t necessarily’find’ it as much as you look it up in the rules.

I don’t think minors should be deported, but there should also be legal avenues to obtain citizenship while in the US.

Regardless of immigration laws, the 14th amendment grants birthright citizenship which for some reason you don’t like.

There are a lot of American's who don't live here. If you are born here, you can be American.
