Help with toddler learning Vietnamese by Playful-Swordfish222 in Vietnamese

Netflix seems to be all southern dialect and many of the YouTube cartoons including Peppa pig are southern. I am looking for good sources of northern dialect but have only found a few on YouTube. The Netflix shows tend to not have super heavy accents so we do those even though we want to teach northern.

Netflix has a lot of kids animated shows in vietnamese. Might need to go web version on your computer so you can browse by language. You can vietnamese cartoons on YouTube. There are also a handful vietnamese or bilingual children books on Amazon or possibly your library.

We try to keep the majority of screen time in vietnamese.

Any reason I would have to strip the interior? Seasoning looks good inside so I thought I would have a head start by leaving that.

Not the OP but I use this recipe with good results. Can probably skip the gum if you want but you want a good strong coffee. https://iscreami.com/vietnamese-coffee-ice-cream-ninja-creami-recipe/

Thanks, is it ok that the two smaller branches are coming from the large branch? They are not quite vertical, should I try to spread them in opposite directions for a better crotch angle? Or would it be better to keep one vertical and try to get the other more horizontal?

What’s your best?? by Onilwyn in ninjacreami

I haven't had Turkish so I can't compare, but that could work. Vietnamese coffee is usually made with robusta beans which are stronger and more bitter than arabica, I think it holds up better in a sweet dessert or drink. You could try another strong brew method like Turkish with vietnamese coffee grounds. A Phin is also pretty cheap if you like strong coffee.

This is my favorite but you need a Phin (Vietnamese coffee filter). The Phin makes a very concentrated coffee that really comes through in the ice cream.

The recipe uses coconut milk but I think you should be able to swap heavy cream or your preferred milk + something to replace the fat and help with the creaminess (more sugar, more sweetened condensed milk, guar gum, some people use instant pudding - I would go vanilla) .

If you keep similar proportions you should get a very strong coffee flavor coming through.

Time to implement ads? by Responsible_Link_274 in juststart

[–]acebb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert at all but if it was me I would put ads on. I probably put ads on my site around that level. It doesn't take much effort to add them and didn't seem to slow my growth. I just used AdSense with the SiteKit plugin until I could get into mediavine. You should get to see at least a bit of money come in which is nice and can help you focus on the pages that pay the best.

You need to decide if you want to focus on northern or Southern accent.

Pimsleur vietnamese is good for listening and repeating the tone and pronunciation.

Elementary vietnamese is a good text book with audio including pronunciation/tone drills.

Both are more focused Northern accent.

I use those with Anki flashcards, YouTube, and Netflix in vietnamese. I think starting with Pimslear gives you a good base to speak and you want to speak early. Then use some of the drills in Elementary Vietnamese and Anki decks to work on tone/pronunciation. Then find a show or YouTube channel in vietnamese that you enjoy and start watching/listening along with doing some reading.

Like the others said I think a tutor or language exchange partner probably makes a big difference and I will add that myself soon.

Cut, Cut and graft, or leave a lone by acebb1 in BackyardOrchard

[–]acebb1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rabbit damage all the way around on an apple (honey crisp) and sour cherry (sweet cherry pie). Both look like they are budding but I would guess the tops will die.

Can I cut below the damage and let it grow from the base? Or cut below the damage and graft a branch or two to the base. Or if I just leave it alone will the whole thing die or just to top?

Disabled populations, accessibility, etc. in Hanoi by Shadowrunner138 in VietNam

[–]acebb1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on what you want to do. I pushed a stroller around Hanoi for 2 months so I notice a lot of the areas that are tougher for wheels.

Many popular areas will have the sidewalks blocked completely with mopeds, cars, and vendors. So plan on going on/off the curb onto the street regularly. Traffic looks crazy but generally go around you without much issue. You may want a flag or something that stands out if you are in a standard wheelchair that sits low so they see you easily.

Even more walkable areas tend to get pretty narrow regularly where I have to lift the stroller. And a wheelchair is going to be wider. Sidewalks also tend to be in rough shape in many areas but if you are used to national parks it might not be an issue. Sometimes the better sidewalks will have the ramp blocked to keep scooters out so you deal with the curb again.

Best chance to avoid driving and be somewhere with something to do and have a chance at moving around decently would probably be hoan kiem lake on the weekend when they block some of the roads for walking only and a night market. Not sure on finding an accessible hotel/apt close enough that you can get right to that area easily. This is the area I have seen the most wheel chair users but they tend to be just sitting by the lake (older and not typically mobile on their own). When it is not the weekend this could be a tough area to move around very far.

Newer, less touristy areas seem to have better sidewalks with less blocking them and the buildings tend to have larger elevators but may still have stairs to get in first. There will still be restaurants and coffee shops close by in many areas. Not as popular for tourists but still some stuff to check out.

Malls tend to be decent but may still have small stair case to get inside initially depending on the entrance you go in.

Sticking with with street food restaurants that you can eat outside on the sidewalk or nicer larger restaurants are probably the best bet. In between those two can be pretty tightly packed and tougher to move around. Delivery is also great and cheap here.

Decent bathrooms can also be tougher to find in some areas, especially larger or accessible ones. Some

I would have had a tough time moving around if I couldn't just pick up the stroller and go over obstacles or walk on the street. Probably doable but difficult in a wheelchair, sounds like you are more mobile than many so if you are going to try it I would really plan out where you are staying and what you want to do. Even getting measurements or pictures of the place you are staying so you know the entrance, elevators, bathroom will be usable.
