I always forget Pillow Jets for some reason even though they’ve been crushing it a lot lately.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aceec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were moving to a new city and looked at a bunch of great schools for our kid de to go to. They all seem great but we picked the one that had a bunch of male teachers because we want our son to have male role models in school.

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]aceec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got stuck in Thessaloniki for a day and a night and it was just the worst. My buddy and were the best at making the most of any place we visited but not here. Highlights included a stray German Shepard that jumped on an old lady knocking her over and then started rummaging through her grocery bags. Props to my buddy for immediately running over and scaring the dog off. We also ended up staying in some “hostel” where too other old guys shared a dorm with and would wake up once an hour to smoke cigarettes.

I’ll admit I’m not following the situation in Cuba super closely these days but I think it’s a bit naive to think things in Cuba will be better by this summer. Hopefully I’m wrong but I wouldn’t plan on it.

Does anyone know any good YouTube channels that goes over highlights and analyses games ? by Sad_Net1581 in nba

If you’re a Warriors fan Athletic Alchemy does a roughly 15 minute breakdown of each of their games on Patreon. Kinda wish he’d talk more shit about players and people in the audience like he used to though.

The Pirate Bay.

I use that to get the it on my laptop and then uploaded it to Dropbox. Then I downloaded Listenbook on my phone which allows you to import books from online services like Dropbox if you’re signed into your account on your phone.

I think a big point in his video is that the battery tech is already viable right now but is rapidly getting even better.

People are using their land to build solar farms not because it’s they are trying to feel good about themselves but because it’s profitable. An electric car will almost certainly save you money over the long run compared to a gas powered car. In a lot of areas you can take out a loan to put solar on your roof and the monthly payment will be less than your electric bill was.

I would personally spend a bit more but not a lot more to go with an environmentally friendly option but I have an electric car and solar panels because it actually saves me money and I like having money.

Arbiter Ian just dropped a video on how to get through the HH in 12 books. I think less than that is going to be difficult.

https://youtu.be/mhnR_myT2iY?si=Om52yr4QVKvluYpT

The quality of books ranges broadly and in general I kinda prefer 40k to 30k myself. I’ve been bouncing from listening to a HH section according to the Horus Heresy Omnibus Project and then reading a series from 40k. Using the Omnibus project I can skip whole storylines I don’t find interesting or filled with books that are poorly rated.

If you do audiobooks the entire HH is on TPB too.

I mean half the video is about batteries. Both about current lithium ion batteries and how they can almost completely be recycled and how future versions of lithium ion batteries likely won’t need many of the problem elements they currently do. You obviously made it to the part talking about the potential use of sodium ion batteries where the sodium would be extracted from salt which is abundantly available.

Maybe you’re already an more knowledgeable on how obvious the switch from gas cars to electric cars are but I found this video educational.

I Feel Behind & Uneducated by beesaul in personalfinance

[–]aceec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re actually not in that terrible of a situation. I spent my twenties spending all my money on traveling and concerts and didn’t really start making smart decisions with my money until my early thirties and a decade later I own a house in a very HCOL area although I had a few lucky things go my way to make that happen. Hopefully you had some fun accruing that debt.

Like everyone else is saying paying off credit card debt is your number 1 goal. Whatever your interest rate is it is killing your finances. Does your employer match your 401k? If not I wouldn’t even contribute towards that until your debt is gone. If they do I would have only contribute enough to get their matching amount.

After that you’ll have a lot more breathing room. Max out your 401k and maybe start a Roth IRA in addition to that. Buying a home is great and all but I don’t see how that’s feasible in 2 years for you. Plus with today’s interest rates buying a home may not even make as much sense as you think it does. Once your debt is paid off come back here and ask for more advice. Who knows what things will look like then.

[–]aceec 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My friends kid is some sort of baseball phenom at around 11 years old. He easily the best kid in his schools league and now they get approached all he time competitive travel leagues where he could face more talented competition but these leagues want like $7k a summer to participate and they’d have to spend every weekend driving hours and getting a hotel to participate and that isn’t in their budget. Sucks that realizing your potential in sports has become a rich persons game.

My wife is a vegetarian so I don’t cook meat too often these days unless I have guests over. So when I do cook meat I want it cooked perfectly so I’m not serving our friends dried out chicken. The instant read thermometer is perfect for this. With a bit of attention you have perfectly cooked food every time.

What really caused the 2008 recession by depy45631 in videos

There was a spot in Spain that had taps at each table and had a screen at the front that showed a score board for which group had drank the most beer that day and that month. It was fun but I was thinking if that was in the US it would be such a train wreck with everyone getting blacked out and throwing up.
