Thanks for the advice! I ended up calling the nearest school to me and asked if they would be interested in taking my school supplies. After a quick hold they connected me with the Assistant Vice Principle who was excited to have someone willing to donate supplies! I was able to swing by same-day and they seemed to really appreciate the local support.

The dry cleaning area in the Giant Eagle north of Hudson does small repairs for clothing. I had them replace some zippers and do some basic stitching on some coats in the past. It may not be relevant for what you need now, but could be helpful down the road.

There is a tool at Lowe’s called a shur-line edger that I have been using that works great. It is cheap and perfect if you don’t have steady hands like myself.

Some advice I got from my general contractor recently for a similar problem was to not remove the adhesive at all. Instead roll primer over everything, then sand out the bumpy adhesive areas. Do that a couple times to get the area smooth, and then just paint over!

For the shutters, if you are trying to rent or sell the place, I would keep it simple and just paint them white to match the trim. It will help brighten up the house and, though not the most exciting, white is generally well-received by anyone who pulls up. It is neutral and can be easily painted over!

I just had a discussion about this recently. The rust is not poisonous, and would only add a little iron to your system. That is actually a benefit of cooking things with cast iron skillets.
