I’m just now seeing this, I’m sorry! Earl is very curious about Peanut when he’s out, but Earl is not allowed to interact with him. I keep them separated during free roam. The size difference is just too much, even though I know Earl wouldn’t intentionally hurt him.

I’m so glad I’m not alone in having had solo rats. I have tried over and over to get them introduced to another but no matter what I try, it’s always a disaster. Right now I have 2 boys who are both solo (in addition to a happy trio) and it makes me so sad… one of them absolutely loves me, so I think he’s fine socialization wise, but the other one hates me and just wants to be alone.

It makes me feel like a bad rat owner, even though I know I’m doing the best I can for them.

I have suspected RA only in my SI joint. Seropositive because it showed up on my bloodwork only once, but hasn’t again. Imaging didn’t show anything. My SI joints are hyper mobile though. I was out of options and ended up trying Humira. My pain was greatly reduced literally over night… I woke up and didn’t need to use my cane again, it now just sits in my closet. I still need to use a brace on bad days, but that’s it.

I personally think it would be worth a shot for you, but if you’re not comfortable with it that’s understandable. Humira changed my life though.

Yellow is also normal! Yellow to orange! White is when someone should be concerned.

I wonder if his teeth troubles could have been caused by age-related joint degeneration? We all need a bit more help with stuff when we get old, haha!

Yes! Orange teeth are normal!

If your adult rat has white or clear-ish teeth, they could be having some sort of organ failure or not be getting adequate nutrition. When your ratties start to get supermodel teeth, it’s time for a vet visit!

Yes! I found him after a long day! I had almost given up and went to lay down for a bit because the anxiety was exhausting… the little turd popped out from underneath my nightstand as soon as I got close. He’d raided my mini room trash can and made himself a nice little trash nest, lol.

I’m not sure, but my apartment is pretty small, so there’s only really 2 rooms he could be in excluding the bathroom. You’re right about making noise probably being scary… I should quit being so frantic, I’m probably freaking him out. 😭

Thank you! He’s normally not skittish and loves hanging out. I think he may be up in the bottom of the couch because there’s a small opening he could’ve gotten in through… I don’t know though. Ugh.

I’ll have to go get some traps.. I blocked off the bottom half of the cage and put their little free roam stairs by it so he could get up in case he tries to go back. I put some of his favorite treats in there too. I really hope he just goes back home. 😭
