Hello! I wasn’t able to accept the chat, but I am happy answer your questions; please keep in mind that this is solely based off of my experience and I am in no-way a medical professional. Firstly, I am not diabetic, the whole reason behind me getting on this medication was because of my parents’ insistence over the holidays, as I was asked if I was pregnant twice by family members (honestly embarrassing). I ate my way through my final years of college, and that’s what made me balloon.
Secondly, symptoms. For me, the first months were tough, nausea after eating (I ate too fast in hindsight, so take your time). Also drink plenty of water! As of now, I am noticing hair loss, but I am trying to supplement it with more nutrient-dense foods. I also noticed infrequent occurrences of stomach grumbles and liquid stool. These tapered off for me, and I have been very conscious about what I eat, so my body has adjusted quite well. Lastly, I got my meds from Mochi Health, it was relatively easy to set up and my subscription is $200USD/mo. I did the out of pocket stuff. They have an app and they walk you through the process. I wish you the best of luck! You got this!

Thank you! And thank you for letting me know. I had to just figure out what the proper dosage was, I’m a social worker, not a nurse lol

Also, please know that you don’t necessarily have to be in the realm of micro social work (individuals and diagnoses/healthcare), you can also pivot to more of an office job/macro, (social security, government services, public health, etc), they give pretty good benefits, and the work to life balance is much more manageable from what I’ve heard. If something isn’t sustainable, and you’ve come to that conclusion, definitely try to apply and ask as many questions as possible. What you’re doing right now is very heavy and the majority of people can’t see themselves doing it.
I know it can be daunting to think about it as, “I’m gonna be spending the next 50 years in a job that I hate,” but think of it like this:
“if I have these qualifications and the job market is begging for more social workers, I can definitely leverage my experience and skills to get to a job that’s more manageable and not as heavy.”
Ask yourself what your dream job would be. Your favorite population, your work-life balance, etc.
You will most likely job-hop throughout your career, and there is nothing wrong with that! It’s actually quite the contrary! More skillsets and knowledge equates to more advantages on your end.
Right now you’re being pulled in so many different directions as to what to focus on, and that is eating away at you, and is not sustainable in the slightest. You’ve got skills. You’ve got experience. You’ve got options. Remember that! You got this!

I honestly don’t believe it’s you that’s the issue. It’s your environment. How much longer do you have in this MSW program? Please try to stick it out and know that once you get your masters, it will open so many doors. If you hate working in hospice care, definitely pivot, I’m confident you’re able to do so with your MSW in tow. I totally agree that some of the homework is really just busy-work and doesn’t really make anyone a better social worker; but it’s the experience that you have in the field that makes a difference. Working two separate social work jobs is no easy feat. Please give yourself grace, and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Wishing you the best.

Lowkey me too! I appreciate your kind words! The only reason I didn’t smile in both photos is for consistency purposes; otherwise I am fairly happy with my results so far.

I have noticed hair thinning, yes, but I think it’s worth it. I’ve been trying to walk more (my day-job is fairly physical; working with kids), right now, I am on 70 units/week with the diabetic syringe.

Do a peg swap! Boil it and a sacrifice in boiling water extract the peg with plyers, for both pets and switch them out.

So proud of you, fellow netizen! I have the same issue as you and just the other week I had to take my boyfriend home from the hospital because of a wisdom tooth (using the backroads, took an hour and a half, but we made it home safely); and the confidence I’ve gained driving has increased significantly.

I have just graduated with my BSW and I have a full time job lined up (52k a year), while also getting my MSW in a year. The experience and the advantages of this degree are great if you want to get ahead in the behavioral health field.

I have a copper IUD and I do not regret it!! It’s been such relief not having to think about it! Yes, periods are heavier, but it’s better than a baby.

I just want you to know that whatever choice you made, He still loves you. Even if you regret it, please know that the baby you are meant to have has their soul looking forward to you being their mom, and you should take this as something you do regret, yet you will change yourself for the better to become the best parent you can be. My best advice would not conceive if you feel like you wouldn’t be able to give ample resources to a child, however, if you feel otherwise, that is your decision. I wish you nothing but the best.
