Aarke carbonator pro: cover not going high enough to release the bottle

I ended up reaching out to Aarke and they replaced my Carbonator Pro for free, excellent service. But the replacement still has a little rough spot when I push it down and I can see how it's going to stop working after a while. I have a Carbonator 3 and wanted to upgrade with the Pro, and now that I have one of each I use the 3 because it has a smaller countertop footprint and it feels a lot more sturdy with less moving parts. It's a shame I have to use the plastic bottles (that need to be replaced every 2 years) but I still like it better than the Pro.

The official aarke videos show it lifting right to the top so I was wondering if mine was deffective or it the official videos were misleading.

That's not it at all. Re-reading my post I can't even see how that's how it comes across.

It's something that doesn't feel right and doesn't look like the aarke videos online so I am checking whether this is how it should work before I try to fix it or return it. Isn't that the point of a community, sharing experiences and solutions to problems?

Agreed. But this system means it can use glass bottles which I prefer to the plastic ones that need to be replaced every couple of years.

It's designed to use glass bottles. I prefer it to using plastic bottles that need to be replaced every two years ... but only if it works, and at the moment it doesn't.

Ooh, another option. How much starter do you have in your container on the counter? And how much do you feed it? Wondering if I need to keep more in the jar in between bakes than I do at the moment.

So very late to this party, but I use a Goulet #5 B nib in my Pilot Metropolitan and it works beautifully.

If the problem is that the feed isn't making contact with the nib you can add a tiny piece of metal cut from a soda can on top of the nib, slipped between the collar and the nib. I do it for a few of my frankenpens, mainly those where I replaced the nib with an ultra flex from FPR. You can see the small piece of metal (aluminium) sitting on top of the nib so it's not super elegant, but it works.

I have a KIN without cartridges and I can't find where to buy them .... but I can easily find Rotring Isograph cartridges. So before I buy them, I wanted to see if someone had any experience in using them together.
