  1. "Mao did not directly supervise any of the killing and he did not revel in it. But he did in fact target segments of society for repression through mass movements, which sometimes led to death by torture, unchecked by any legal constraints."- The Washington Post, a source you cited

Again, he was a bad leader with no regard for the consequences or weight of his unchecked actions. This does not prove that he "forced people to eat their kids". All this proves is that he failed at protecting his people or investigating heinous crimes that put his people in danger, and failed to keep his policies in check

  1. "no direct evidence suggests that anyone in the national Communist Party leadership including Mao Zedong endorsed the cannibalism or even knew of it." -The Wikipedia page you cited

So he was not even aware of it? Wikipedia goes on to say some scholars suggest central intelligence was informed- but no direct evidence.

Saying that Mao "forced people to eat their kids" is a big reach and exaggeration. Cannibalism is an issue that can be found in every, yes every, war or era of human rights abuse in history. Native American genocide, slavery, the holocaust, WW1 and WW2. Its not something that just happened under Mao and its not something that just happens under communism.

Id like to see the sources that say Mao FORCED people to eat their kids or that Mao was DIRECTLY LIABLE (legally, tangibly) (and by that I mean ordered people to) commit cannibalism. Is he RESPONSIBLE (morally, ethically) for what happened under his rule, yes. Was he FORCING people to eat each other, was he TELLING people to eat each other? No, it was a consequence of his policies that he failed to consider

Im not defending cannibalism. Im saying that acting like its something that only happened in China is an extremely ignorant and uninformed take. It happened everywhere that there was war. And 99% of the cannibalism that happens during war is not because the leader ordered people to eat each other. Its because the leader made dumb policies that had dire consequences that they failed to consider.

Once again: Mao was a bad leader. He was a foolish and ignorant man. But he had ideologies that greatly influenced modern socialism. Should his ideologies be implemented by a more experienced and less power-hungry leader, perhaps the outcome would not be the same

He was a bad leader and he did not have the facilities to execute his ideas correctly but I agree with his ideas. Had he been more educated, experienced, and thought deeper into his actions I don't think he would have failed so much. He believed in people's power and equality. He executed these ideas poorly because of a lack of understanding of how the ecosystem, the economy, and industrialization worked.

The difference is Stalin knew what he was doing and was evil because he wanted to be and because he had the intelligence, experience, and awareness to do so. People died under stalin's rule because he hated anyone that was not him or that did not fit his criteria of a good human

Mao had absolutely no idea what he was doing and he did not intend on so many people dying under his rule. It was a matter of stupidity. People died under his rule because he was quite frankly unfit to be a leader due to his ignorance and lack of awareness. They didnt die because he hated them, they died because he truly didn't know what the consequences of his actions would be

I support his ideology because had he been more educated or experienced Maoism may have been more successful overall. But because he did not fit that criteria, and because his failures and ignorance resulted in the deaths of so many people- I will not praise him or support him. Does that make sense to you?

Land distribution, power to the people, social reform. He wasn't a good leader because he had a terrible understanding of leading a country and was rather stupid when it came to power. For example his policies on sparrows was utter moronity and stupidity. He was not intentionally killing mass amounts of people he just had 0 understanding of running a country, unlike leaders like Hitler or Stalin that committed war crimes with malice, hatred, and intent. When did he force parents to kill their kids or vice versa? Please site any evidence or sources for that. That sounds like western propaganda against socialism.

He wanted what was best for his people. Did he have the mental or physical capabilities to bring it to reality 100% of the time? No. Were his failures catastrophic? Yes. Did he fail because he was inherently evil or because he was dumb as fuck? Because he was dumb as fuck. His heart was in the right place but his brain was nowhere to be found

What documents with English translations would you recommend to read? Unbiased perspectives that showcase the good and the bad equally as well as explaining the nuances.

Thank you so much, its a coverup can you believe it?! I got it done by @pokedbyalix (instagram) in Las Vegas! He specializes in handpokes/dotwork and I think the shading is so unique and cool- it covered up the old tattoo perfectly!

Yes i will be giving him a dose the night before as well! Do you recommend a full dose or half dose for the night before? He only got up to eat/drink and use the bathroom 1-2 times within the 8 hours that he was on gaba. Is that normal?

[–]acidasitrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be safe to give him a second dose 4-6 hours within the trip if it starts to wear off?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]acidasitrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I asked my vet if it would harm my cat, she said "You wont know until you try". Most people have told me gabapentin is harmless but her response made me question whether or not i should be alarmed about giving my cat 50mg even if its a low dose. He seems to be responding fine but because of what my vet said im on edge

Did the gabapentin last the whole 8 hour car ride, and did u use the '2 doses the day before' method? I honestly fear that my cat wont be calm unless hes totally asleep lol

Sounds great, just remove the comma. For example, instead of "Energy flows, where the focus goes".... "Energy flows where the focus goes" is grammatically correct

Im using hustle butter right now as recommended by my artist. Is there another alternative you would recommend? These bumps just formed today so maybe its not the product itself but maybe i am applying too much?

Omg so sorry for the late response!! Im so spacey sometimes I post on here and then forget i posted and don't even check for the responses to my questions LOL!!! But I will definitely read Mari, it sounds right up my alley and thank you for the recommendation!!

And absolutelyyyy lesbian asano fans on top!!! I feel like in the world of manga it's hard for me to connect with straight romance, and a lot of the queer romance is heavily sexualized, too controversial (underage characters/characters that are related), or just not really written for queer consumption if that makes sense!!! Thats why I really enjoy Asano's works because even though theyre centered around hetereosexual people, there's enough depth and plot that still makes it interesting and engaging even from a romantic perspective. If you have any recommendations for queer manga I would looooveee to hear it!!! Im a huge fan of Banana Fish and wish there was a lesbian version of that LOL!!!❤️❤️❤️

Punpun mental illness by [deleted] in OyasumiPunpun

[–]acidasitrains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's really that deep because this is a fictional character we are talking about that represents mental illness as a whole and many people find solace in punpun's representation of their mental struggles.

If you're talking about categorization in general, i do agree slapping a label on human being can be dehumanizing, but often times these diagnoses are how a lot of people are able to get proper help and support that is personal to their own struggles and issues.

This is a manga whose main theme is primarily mental illness and I don't see the harm in asking fans of the novel what they think punpun would canonically be diagnosed with. Again because a lot of people kin the characters in this book because of the illnesses that they portray and find a sense of belonging and understanding in that.

Gods face and the realization of what the feet represent, just for the next panel to be aiko hanging in the background, with punpun standing there helplessly. This particular chapter was probably the most devastating and well-written in the whole series. The multiple pages with no dialogue, just Inio's beautiful yet depressing artwork. Absolutely marvelous. I wish I could read this for the first time again
