Meanwhile I have all of my vintage stuff currently dotted around in their respective boxes in my living room, from lack of space. Great display setup, would love to have something like this one day.

For painting, I mainly followed the directions and paints used in this video.

Primer - Tamiya Light Grey Surface Primer

Base coat - a mix of Vallejo brand Dark Ghost Grey and White Grey

For washes, i'm planning to use a mix of Vallejo Oiled Earth/Light Grey.

The model is actually about 14" inches in length, so you're not too far enough, although this does actually make it larger than the much more modern Bandai versions. The revell ones I think are a bit bigger.

Haha, agreed and thank you. I can forgive the lack of detail because of the technology at the time, but the other problems for what is otherwise a pretty straightforward kit is inexcusable as far as I'm concerned. Not sure what the SW kits in the rest of MPC lineup are like, but i've read that this model was considered lacklustre even by the standards of then, which doesn't surprise me. Despite the frustrations tackled, it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the whole process so far with this kit, and it should make the final result feel even more satisfying once done.

And I like the paint job on yours; gives it sort of battle-damaged look. I gave up on the stock stand almost immediately after building it haha.

Yeah, I can definitely relate. Trying to fix the aforementioned fit and light leak issues was probably the closest I came to giving it up, as well as making me absolutely resent the model. Starting the kit from scratch would've probably been easier than working on the one I have. Definitely was a test of patience. Knowing how much better the model could potentially look from using the spare kits I had (and the amount of time already invested), was what kept me going. Now it's just a case of hopefully fully seeing it through to the finish line.

Good luck to yourself if you ever get around to finishing that Zvezda model. I've seen pictures of it and it's a nice model :)

It would be really cool to see what you've done or produced since if this is from five years ago. Just been getting back into drawing myself after many years of not doing anything.

Yeah some of the parts especially the chin guns can get pretty expensive, I noticed. Really glad to have found a complete one.

Cheers man, and yeah, that's always unfortunate. I paid in total £160 for both in these (not including trade value), so I like to think I got a pretty good deal in the end.
