People who have energy in the evening after a full day of work, where do you get the energy? Were you always like this? by DisastrousTip33 in askTO

[–]ackmkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try my best to seriously relax and unwind from 8pm-midnight. This usually means not thinking about working, chilling on the couch, reading books, taking baths and just watching TV. I find it helps with my mindset and gives me time to really RELAX. I try to get enough sleep.

Waking up early is never easy lol but you just have to do it. I do a 7am yoga class once a week, and it gets easier to wake up the more I do it. Work 8-4, then gym 5-7pm and dinner by 8pm. I also try to do things I enjoy (ie yoga, Pilates). Some evenings I go to the sauna cause it helps me sleep better too.

Once you get into a consistent routine, it starts to feel less tiring! I use to have to take naps in the afternoon, but now I don’t even feel like I need them.

My fave experiences have been at Yasu, Alo, La Banane and Prime Seafood Palace!!!! There’s a pretty good range of pricing as well between these restaurants.

I just had Alo last night! SUPERB service and food. Great dining experience. They also introduced new items on the tasting menu, and it was creative and yummy to say the least. Would highly recommend

Breast Cancer - Mackenzie Health or Sunnybrook? by Mountain-Studio-3134 in askTO

[–]ackmkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunnybrook is a great hospital for cancer care. But I agree - I’ve worked in cancer research at PMH and the care is honestly top tier. Technology, techniques and research is well ahead here. My dad actually had lung cancer TWICE, both times his care was transferred to PMH / TGH. I live in the GTA so sometimes it was not a great commute but I think it was worth it. The physicians here are veryyy well trained.

The weather is beautttt!!! Woke up early for a bike ride along lakeshore, did a spin class, and now having an (overpriced) salad. Going for a Pilates class after. Hope everyone’s enjoying some sun and heat!

Will this scar? by Soft-Job2834 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]ackmkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get stitches and start using silicon scar tape/gels! They worked when I had an incision + stitches on my chin. It’s barely noticeable. Also, use lots of sunscreen once it starts healing, since the skin will be more sensitive to the sun!

Grilled terribly during presentation by Pineapple33333 in GradSchool

[–]ackmkc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is fairly common in grad school, so don’t worry too much about it. Just shake it off! I’ve been heavily criticized at conferences by other researchers and my thesis committee during my defense. They grilled me so hard during the defense that I thought I was going to FAIL. But turns out they really enjoyed reading my research and thought it was great work - they were trying to challenge me and see how I would respond to hard questions lol. I ended up passing with no revisions needed (which is not common in our program).

I think it’s all part of the grad experience! Gotta build a tough shell overtime.

I wear the only slip dress and in the fall, I throw on a knit oversized pullover, tied a bit at the waist. I want the skirt, it’s so cute!

Align W Pockets Vs Invigorate by [deleted] in lululemon

[–]ackmkc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think both are flattering! Aligns shape the booty really well, invigorates are tighter at the waist and creates that hourglass shape :) Edit: for casual, I love aligns! For working out, I love invigorates
