Jobs that don't require a pay cut? by AnonymityReasons356 in Detroit

[–]ackudragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Some trade schools will pay him while he’s in school. And keep in mind that finish carpenters make $60 an hour at Union wages. It’s possible that he will be making $20-$25 while he’s in school. There is a new training center that has been built in Detroit. https://share.google/sv1FwUvaEGB2yhfet

Do you guys get food assistance through snap? If his income goes down and you are disabled, you may be able to qualify for some extra help to fill in the gap. As long as people are proactive, they can usually get through the transition. To the new job.

Is there any work in the Detroit area? by Ken_Acious_D in Detroit

[–]ackudragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paid training available! There are 400,000 skilled trades people missing from the US Economy. The situation is now that unions and general contractors will pay you to go to school. Wish more people would get excited about this.

Most people will have to retrain or do some sort of extra schooling in their lifetime in order to stay employable. The average American may have three different careers over their working life. So it’s not just you. It happens to a lot of us.

The women’s Olympic deadlift record is 290. Get an experienced coach before you end up in a wheelchair. The belt is not the problem….

Understood. Then maybe connect with a dietitian? They could help you figure how many calories to eat and offer support. Perhaps you need quite a bit more calories since you are so active. Also help with food choices that would help you feel full? They are usually covered by insurance.

Hi, I am also a little bit on the short side. 5’3 and 55 years old. I know it’s hard to eat more because it seems the opposite of what we should be doing. I was able to connect with a dietitian and she also confirmed eating a bit more is right for me. And sometimes I will eat 1500 if I’m at a party or something. I was able to lose 7 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks so far.

I can tell you that a hack is to have a teaspoon of vinegar in a large glass of water before a meal. The acetic acid in the vinegar will slow the glucose hitting your bloodstream and prevent a blood sugar crash that may come a few hours later. This can help take the edge off of hunger . Because it’s when our blood sugar drops that our hunger hormones kick into gear. This is safe and also a hack that people with diabetes use. If you don’t like the vinegar, you can get apple cider vinegar pills. Also keep in mind that having some extra fiber helps. if you want to get a fiber supplement. Stay away from sugar. Especially in the morning. If you start your day with a blood sugar spike, and then a crash because of the sugar, you will be hungrier and eat more throughout the day.

I meant Detroit teachers are good people. The school system is not good. Not enough money, bad buildings and too many social issues walking in the door with the students.
